Magdalena (Maggie) Canizales of Bakersfield California was called home on March 5, 2021. Maggie was born on July 25, 1945 in El Paso, Texas to Isabel (Betty) and Esequiel (Zeke) Esqueda and was the oldest of 10 siblings. She grew up in El Paso, Texas but moved to San Pedro, Ca with her family. She worked for the LAUSD as a clerk and enjoyed writing in shorthand. One day while at a dance in Wilmington, Ca, she met the love of her life Pablo Canizales of Cameron Texas. Maggie started her career with the Employment Development Department (EDD) and worked there 33 years. She moved to Bakersfield in 1992 where she shared a home with her husband and children. She loved spending time with her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren and would teach them about the Lord and all his love and grace. She enjoyed attending Discovery church and loved to raise her hands to worship her savior. Our parents were married 51 years and our Dad Paul went home to be with the Lord 7 months before our mother took her last breath. Our mom missed him and would always speak of the day of when they would reunite. She was an amazing person and anyone who knew her would talk about the love and hospitality she would show them. Our mother was the perfect reflection of the Proverbs 31 woman. She will be missed tremendously.

She is survived by her 4 children, Tina (Jose) Vazquez, Rebecca (Kevin) Barnes, Daniel (Golda) Canizales, and Sandra Canizales, 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Hillcrest Memorial in Bakersfield.

The family would like to thank Hoffmann Hospice for their love and support through the loss of their parents. All staff have been wonderful and provided the family with compassion and trust. Thank you. www.bakersfield.com/obits
