3 local students to compete at Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair
Three Bakersfield high school students will head to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair after their performances in Kern County’s regional competition last week.
According to a news release from the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office, Ishaan Brar from Stockdale High School and Joseph Cestone and Kevindeep Dhesi from Ridgeview High School will now compete in the ISEF, scheduled for May 3-6 in a virtual format.
The international event will feature 1,800 students worldwide competing for the right to earn nearly $5 million in awards and scholarships, the news release stated.
The three students advanced following their projects in Kern County’s 33rd annual Regional Science Fair, with Brar shining in the biochemical engineering event and Cestone and Dhesi teaming up in the computational systems and mathematics competition.
Approximately 230 fourth through 12th grade students took part in Kern’s fair, which was held virtually March 15-17. There were more than 218 projects in all, the KCSOS said.
