Margie May Evans was born and graduated high school in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas. Soon after graduating she moved to California and worked as a supervisor for the phone company. While working in Bakersfiel­d, she met James Wesley Spalinger and married him in August 1948. She was a homemaker and was married to Wes for 60 years. During which time, she was involved in P.T.A., Cub Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and her continuous community involvemen­t with her beloved sorority sisters of Beta Chi Sorority. She was loved by all and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Margie is survived by her four children: Alan Spalinger (Barb) of Kodiak, Alaska, Greg Spalinger (Darsha) of Kodiak, Alaska, Lana Martinez of Bakersfiel­d, and David Spalinger (Melody) of Bakersfiel­d; Grandchild­ren: Kally, Geoff, Rachelle Brouhard, Jacob, Chad, Paige Haagsma, Tyler and six great-grandchild­ren. Brother J.T. Evans of Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas.

Margie is preceded in death by her husband Wes Spalinger, her parents Robert and Mary Evans, Sister Mary Ann Nicholson, and Brother R.E. Evans.

The Spalinger Family would like to thank wonderful neighbors Rudy and Irene Martinez for their friendship and support of Margie.

Visitation will be Wednesday March 31st from 3-5pm at Hillcrest Mortuary. Funeral Service will be held Thursday April 1st at 10:00 am at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel followed by a graveside service. A celebratio­n of life will be held immediatel­y following the service.
