KCSO investigat­ing suspected homicide in Oildale

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigat­ing a suspected homicide that occurred in Oildale late Sunday evening.

According to a KCSO news release, the incident occurred just after 11:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Harrison Drive. Deputies responded to the scene of a reported shooting and found a 40-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound, the news release stated.

He was taken to Kern Medical where he was pronounced deceased.

The man was identified as by the Kern County coroner’s office as Michael Glenn Lewis.

A 22-year-old man was the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday.

According to a report from the Kern County coroner’s office, Jeffrey Joseph Leroy Correll, of Bakersfiel­d, was shot and killed at 12:24 a.m. in the 600 block of Airport Drive.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigat­ing the incident as a homicide.

A man who was stabbed to death in Oildale on March 14 has been identified by the Kern County coroner’s office.

According to a report from the coroner, 40-year-old Jeremy Andrew Muzzy was stabbed at 112 Harris Drive at 6:27 a.m. He died less than an hour later at Kern Medical.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigat­ing the incident as a homicide.

The victim in a March 9 fatal shooting on E 9th Street has been identified by the Kern County coroner’s office.

Stanley Wade Peterson, 37, was shot and killed just after 9 p.m. that evening, according to the coroner’s report.

Last week the Bakersfiel­d Police Department arrested 41-year-old Jerry Dawson, of Bakersfiel­d, in connection to the shooting death, according to a news release from the agency.

A man who was found dead in the East Side Canal on March 17 has been identified by the Kern County coroner’s office.

According to a report from the coroner, the body of 62-year-old Rafael Angel Cervantes was found at 1:45 p.m. submerged in the canal, which is located near Edison Highway and Fairfax Road. The time and cause of his death remain unknown.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigat­ing the incident, according to the report.

The Kern County coroner’s office has identified a pedestrian who was killed by a vehicle in the 900 block of Union Avenue last week.

According to the coroner’s report, 37-year-old Angelina Bernal Esquivel was struck at about 9:50 p.m. She died at the scene of the incident, the coroner said.

A 78-year-old man, who was the victim in a fatal vehicle crash just east of Bakersfiel­d, has been identified by the Kern County coroner’s office.

According to a report from the coroner, Jose Luis Cardenas Alvarado was the driver of a vehicle that collided with a semi-truck near the intersecti­on of Highway 184 and E Wilson Road on Sunday at 8:12 p.m. He died at the scene of the crash, the coroner said.

The Kern County coroner’s office identified the victim in a fatal vehicle crash that occurred March 17 near the intersecti­on of Panama Lane and Stine Road.

According to the coroner’s report, 29-year-old Antwon Jervon Washington, of Los Angeles, was killed at around 2:30 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed it into a tree. He died at the scene from his injuries, the coroner said.

A 75-year-old woman was the victim in a fatal roll-over vehicle accident that took place in Ridgecrest on Saturday.

According to a report from the Kern County coroner’s office, Mary Keith Hewett was the victim in the crash, which occurred at 1:10 p.m. She was taken to Ridgecrest Regional Medical Center where she died just before 3 p.m., the coroner said.

Two men were arrested on Saturday by officers from the Kern County Probation Department for alleged weapon and drug offenses.

According to a news release from the department, officers conducted a home call in the 800 block of Lake Street and contacted 23-year-old Jordy Luna and 29-year-old Roman Maldonado. Luna was on active Post Release Community Supervisio­n, the news release stated.

During a search, officers located three baggies containing suspected cocaine, the news release said.

They also found numerous live rounds of ammunition, one bullet proof vest, a .22 caliber rifle and a .9mm handgun, the probation department said.

Both men were arrested for weapon and drug-related offenses while Luna was also arrested for probation violation, according to the news release.

The news release stated that the probation department conducted 40 home calls on Saturday in metro Bakersfiel­d, focusing on residences of individual­s on Post Release Community Supervisio­n, Mandatory Supervisio­n and Felony Probation.
