ESTEBAN (STEVE) ALDERETE
December 23, 1927 - February 3, 2021
Esteban (Steve) Alderete, 93, of Arvin, passed away February 3, 2021 in Monterey, California.
Born in Bakersfield on December 23, 1927 to immigrant parents from Jalisco, Mexico. Steve, eldest of 10 children, graduated Arvin HS, Bakersfield College, and Cal Poly Pomona Class of 1951 with an Agricultural Biology degree and credentials to teach. He married Carole Hancock, they raised four children and their family grew: Lisa (David), David II (Michelle), David III and Jack, Matthew, Paul; Suzanne (Michael), Danielle, Christopher; Michael (Pearl), Chase, Lauren; and John (Aida), Tyler, Tiana.
Steve was employed and provided his extensive horticulture skills within many of California’s Ag Counties as a Viticulturist and Farm Consultant in fruit/vegetable crop & vineyard management practices. Upon retirement, Steve moved back to Arvin to aid his parents becoming active in City Government and using his first language skills as a Spanish interpreter in the Kern County Courts. Steve continued to garden and share his knowledge with all.
Steve is preceded in death by Carole and his grandson, Matthew. He is also survived by siblings David Alderete, Concha Mooney and Mary Lou Williams (John) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Steve will be interned in the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, Seaside, CA with Military Funeral Honors recognizing his service in the US Army. Services will be held after July 2021 once COVID Gathering Restrictions are lifted. Steve is loved by all who knew him. He is now with God, family, and friends in the afterlife.
