Casey Kemble Johnston, born February 1, 1990, passed March 28, 2021 in Bakersfield, California. Casey was born in Bakersfield and moved to Grover Beach with his family and graduated from Arroyo Grande High School. He earned a BA in Liberal Studies from CSUS. Currently, living in Bakersfield he attended CSUB working towards a second BA in Studio Art. He was also enrolled at the University of La Verne to earn a secondary teaching credential. He loved the prospect of teaching art and already had plans for his future classroom.

Casey worked over the years as a CNA, substitute teacher and as painting instructor. Casey was a very talented and prolific artist. His house was his studio filled with his projects including furniture he designed, drawings, paintings, sculptures, cartooning, printmaking and ceramics. He spent his time working on many artistic works including writing short stories and illustrated novels. He was always eager to learn something new and experiment with new tools and materials.

Casey truly was one of a kind. He was smart, trusting, honest, caring and consistently positive with a smile on his face. He was selfless and willing to help anyone at a moments notice. He was a best friend to Collin and Brittany and they enjoyed countless adventures together. Casey had a wry sense of humor and could be a bit of a prankster and he always made people smile. He faced life head on, determined, and he lived his life on his own terms. He never took things too seriously and brought a bright side to every situation, spreading laughter to all of those lucky enough to be a part of his world.

Casey will be immeasurably missed by those who knew and loved him and he will be remembered for his extensive vocabulary and knowledge of little known facts, his broad humor, his genuine positivity, his amazing artistic talent and his ever present big smile peeking out from his epic, ever changing and creative facial hair.
