LUCAS JOAQUIN DUNTON

February 16, 2010 - April 5, 2021

Lucas Joaquin Dunton (Boogie), age 11, died on April 5, 2021 at Los Angeles Medical Center. He passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus surrounded by his family.

Lucas is the son of Rebecca and Kristopher Hamstreet, brother to Chase Hamstreet and grandson of James and Lydia Settles of Bakersfield, CA. Lucas was an absolute joy to be around, he was always so happy and full of kind words. He had a smile and a hug for everyone. Lucas struggled with Kearn-Sayre Syndrome for several years with many complications from the disease but he never let his limitations destroy his spirit. He loved God, his family, and all things Avengers. He loved to play video games with his brother, and board games (mainly Sorry!) with his whole family. He was a Cub Scout at St John’s Lutheran Church where he continued to learn about God and serving his community. He loved being able to dance and fence with the League of Dreams. He brought his dramatic flair to both activities with onstage dabbing during the Dance Recital and dramatic falls when he was stabbed during Fencing. Knowing our Lucas, he boogied and dabbed his way to Jesus with his typical theatrics that always brought laughter to everyone.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 19th at 4:00 PM at the family’s church, Kern Christian Center. The family will be wearing blue, Lucas’s favorite color to the memorial service and we invite guests to do so as well.

We gratefully acknowledge the loving care Lucas received at Kaiser Permanente in Bakersfield and in Los Angeles, Sing Lum Elementary School, Cub Scout Pack 38 and Kern Christian Center.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to one of the organizations that helped Lucas while he was with us, League of Dreams, Cub Scout Pack 38 and Kern Christian Center.
