GERALD (GERE) H. BURT

September 3, 1934 – October 12, 2021

Born and raised in Bakersfield, CA, Gere attended Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield College. While in Bakersfield, Gere was known for his business “House of Carpets” - Gere loved hunting and fishing and hanging with his friends and family, and hosted many backyard bbqs which usually led to some ping pong matches and cooling off in the family pool. He moved to Shaver Lake in 1978 and bought some snow removal equipment and started “Burt Sno Patrol”.

A few years later he bought Tamarack Lodge near Huntington Lake. He continued to run the lodge and do snow removal until 2016. He then retired and spent some time at his favorite place, the cabin “Burt's Perch” at Huntington Lake.

Many memories were made there by many families and friends. Many hearts were brightened by his Burt hospitality. His legacy remains forever. Gere was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Grace, his three sisters Florence, Nancy and Helen, and his granddaughter Haley Ann Burt.

Gere is survived by: his daughter Lori Wassum and husband Mike, granddaughters Natalie Ann Wassum, Erin Renee Wassum, grandson Ryan Michael Wassum and great granddaughter Lola Monroe; his daughter Caren Brendel and husband Mike, granddaughter Brittany Cassayre, grandson Dustin Brendel, and great grandchildren Kieran, Cade, River, Maren and Sloan; his son John Burt and wife Kendra, granddaughter Hannah Burt, and grandson Hudson Burt; his daughter Christi Burt, granddaughter Caitlin Hickerson and husband Barrett, grandson Ricky Frasch, granddaughter McKenna Frasch, and great grandson Kaiicen Fries; his son Daniel Burt and grandson Zachariah Daniel Burt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
