BPD: Felon held in shooting
Bakersfield Police arrested Jason Sanders, 40, on suspicion of shooting a firearm at another person during an altercation at around 1:01 a.m. Saturday at the 2500 block of Connie Avenue.
The victim was not struck by the gunfire, BPD said in a news release. Sanders is a prior felon, BPD said, and he was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Bakersfield Police Department arrested Francisco Salas, 29, of Bakersfield, suspected of firing several shots into the Culichi Town restaurant on Sunday.
An altercation inside the restaurant occurred around 10:33 p.m., BPD said, and Salas is accused of firing the shots while he was leaving.
Based on suspect and vehicle description, BPD officers tried to stop a vehicle driven by Salas in the area of Planz Road and Benton Street. The vehicle failed to yield, BPD said, and led units on a pursuit down northbound Highway 99, concluding in a field southwest of Lerdo Highway and Highway 65.
Salas was booked and arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and felony evading, among other charges.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian collision at South Real Road and Apache Avenue on Saturday.
The Coroner’s Office said Xavier Spain Kennedy, 40, of Bakersfield, was struck by a vehicle at around 9:50 p.m. His time of death was listed as 10:16 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the occupant of a vehicle who died in a collision on Highway 58, east of Claymine Road, on Friday.
According to the Coroner’s Office, Benly Nic Nanthavong, 27, of Stockton, was the occupant of a vehicle that collided with another at 2:40 a.m. He was determined dead at the scene.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a deadly stabbing from Oct. 22.
The coroner says Stanley Evans, 44, of Bakersfield, was stabbed by another person at the 400 block of Willow Drive. He was found dead at the scene at 10:10 p.m.
An autopsy determined multiple stab wounds was the manner of death. It has been classified as a homicide.
The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying a man accused of throwing a sidewalk sign through the glass doors of a Chevron gas station.
BPD says the man caused $500 worth of damage when he threw the sign through the doors after a disagreement with the store clerk on Oct. 2 at the Chevron station in the 2300 block of H Street.
BPD described the man as 30 years old, Black, with a medium build, wearing a blue hat, a gray sweater, gray shirt, gray shorts, black shoes,and carrying a blue backpack.
