Joe Louie Morentin Jr. was born September 26, 1981, in Bakersfiel­d, CA, and passed away peacefully on October 31, 2021, with his family by his side. Joe attended Bakersfiel­d High School where he graduated in 1999. In 2004 he married his high school sweetheart and the mother of their three children, Lydia Morentin. He was a great father and enjoyed the quality time spent with his children. He was immensely proud of his two sons Joe III and Dominick, adored his only daughter Julie. Joe was most known for his infectious smile that lit up any room he entered. He was always happy and friendly to everyone, thoughtful, kind, and always thinking of others before himself.

As a young man, Joe enjoyed lowriders, custom bikes, and building model cars. He was apart of Aztec Image where he displayed his lowrider car and bikes at car shows. Joe was also a part of the EB Ryderz for 3 years and was known as AAA-Joe. As his life went on, he enjoyed going fishing, playing pool, poker, frisbee golf, and going camping with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and lover of the Raiders, Lakers, and Dodgers. His love for sports continued by coaching youth sports, along with being a mentor too many. Joe worked at Plains All American Pipeline for 16 years. His hobby of making jerky later turned into a family business with his children, known as JMJ Jerky.

Joe is survived by his wife Lydia, three children: Joe III, Dominick, and Julie Morentin. His parents; Father Joe Morentin, Stepmother Victoria, Mother Gloria Hernandez, Stepfather Eddie. Siblings; Christina Cordero (Shelby), Michael Ortiz Jr. (Jazmin), Tressia Torres (Jacob), Nicholas Ortiz, Eric Morentin (Shelby), and Stepbrothe­r Eddie Hernandez (Kristine). Godchildre­n: Hayden and Eva, and numerous Tios, Tias, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends that he deeply loved. Preceded in death by his Sister Julissa and his Grandparen­ts; Vito and Vita Morentin, Mary Parra-Cañez and Tony Cañez.

Lydia would like Joe to know, “Our hearts are forever tied, love you, babe.” Services for Joe will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park. A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021, between 4 pm - 8 pm. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 9 am. Flowers may be sent to Hillcrest Memorial Park in his name.
