Consuelo “Connie” Bermudez Nieto, 79 years of age, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday November 8th, 2021. Connie was born on July 20th, 1942, in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico to the late Rafael Bermudez and Luisa Espita Gamino Bermudez. She was the youngest of 3 children. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph and Jose Bermudez.

She married the late Richard Nieto Sr. in 1962 and 3 children were born from this union. Connie is survived by her children Nancy Kay Morales, Richard Nieto Jr., and Patricia Ann Chamberlin.

Connie received her US Citizenship in her early 20's and made it a mission in her life to help others. When she became an Immigration Specialist with the Kern County Economic Opportunity Foundation she found her life goal; to advocate for the undocumented, a pursuit she would fight for-for over 20 years. She was also one of the founding members of the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Her personal passions included dancing with her Folklorico group Xochiquetzal, singing in her Mariachi group Los Embassadors as well as professional cake decorating. She took great pleasure in sharing her immense baking and cake decorating knowledge with her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters.

She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, enjoying or collecting anything with frogs or chatting and spending time with family and friends. She loved to dance and sing, whether it be Folklorico or just cutting the rug to a great song at a family event. She was also a devout Catholic and made sure to set aside time for Church every week.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
