DANIEL LOUIS GERECKE

September 16, 1949 - October 25, 2021

Daniel Louis Gerecke was born September 16, 1949 to Rudy H. and Ella Marie Nitsch Gerecke in Bakersfield, CA and left us on October 25, 2021 due to lung and brain cancer to join his father, brother and infant daughter Leah with golf clubs in hand to play on the best course in heaven.

He is survived by his mother and his daughters Stephanie Gerecke and grandson Tyler Anderson of Fresno, CA.; Lisa Bodfish and children Alaska and Hawaii Daniel of Hawaii; Taylor Bodfish and son Liam Louis of Alaska. He is also survived by sisters Donna Dailey, Denise (David) Bosworth and Diana Gerecke of Bakersfield and sister Donella Davis of Palmer, Alaska and as well as many nieces and nephews both in Californa and Alaska. He is also survived by his aunts Jewell Nitsch Moore and Betty Gerecke Renne in Cape Girardeau, Missouri area as well as numerous cousins in several states. Daniel graduated from Hoopa Valley High School, Hoopa, CA in 1967 where he excelled in sports. Daniel journeyed to Alaska in 1975 with his best friend Randy Huddleston and worked on the North Slope for many years. He returned to Bakersfield to be closer to his family in 2010. Daniel was an avid golfer and loved a good game of dominos. He enjoyed playing his guitar and in his earlier years, played the drums in a small band called “The Regents”. Daniel was a St. Louis Cardinal fan as well as an Arizona Cardinal fan. He will be greatly missed by family and friends including his friends in the Royal Palms community. Rest in peace Daniel as you are free from pain and suffering.

A family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
