RAYMOND RODRIQUEZ “RAIDER RAY”
January 21, 1943 - May 10, 2022
Raymond was born in Bakersfield, CA to Jose Rodriquez and Josephine Diosado. He was raised in Bakersfield and attended Panama and Greenfield Schools. He was a very hardworking man. Most of his life he worked in the oilfields, where he retired from KSI after many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Martin, Henry, Tony, Esperanza, Mike, Joe, and Mary.
He is survived by his wife, his 5 children, Raymond Jr., Gloria, Manuel, Carmen, and Victor Rodriquez; his sisters, Catalina Nowell and Jessie Ybanez; his brother, Raul Rodriquez; 19 Grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great-Grandson; and his numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Godchildren.
He was a BIG RAIDER FAN. He spent a lot of time with friends, watching football games in his personally decorated “Raider Room”. He was the life of the party at every family gathering, dancing to the famous “James Brown”, and nicknamed the “Godfather of Soul”. His love for music, the Raiders, and especially his family was astronomical. “Raider Ray” would light up any room he entered and could make a stranger feel like family. His love was genuine, and he truly loved everyone who crossed his path. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Nothing will be the same. He will be deeply missed by everyone, especially his children. His light will always shine bright in our hearts.
A memorial is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 10:00am-11:00am, at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery at 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield 93313. All are welcome to attend.
