DOUGLAS HAROLD BLOOMQUIST

Douglas Harold Bloomquist was born on October 27, 1955 to Harold and Marcella (Bettin) Bloomquist in Fairmont, Minnesota. He grew up in the Trimont area and later was a 1974 graduate of Trimont High School. Doug moved to California and worked at a horse track as a groom. In 1976 he came back to Trimont and helped farm in the area and raised horses. In 1984 he was a groom at Canterbury Park Race Track in Shakopee, Minnesota and worked for Clint Goodrich later as a trainer and won various horse races as an owner and trainer. In 1987 he was a jockey agent at the race track until 1989 when he moved back to California and later to Florida for a short time. On October 26, 2012 he was united in marriage to Christine Brley in Reno, Nevada. Doug was an avid dart player and played in many dart leagues. He enjoyed playing cards, working with horses and spending time with his family. Doug died on Friday evening, April 29, 2022 at Adventist Health Hospital in Bakersfiel­d, California at the age of sixty-six years.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Bloomquist of Bakersfiel­d, California; two daughters, Jessica (Juan) Lomeli and Debi (David) Waid both of Bakersfiel­d, California; brother, Dennis Bloomquist of Jackson, Minnesota; two sisters, Kathryn “Kathy” Bloomquist and Emily Lee both of Trimont, Minnesota; two nieces, Morgan Bloomquist and friend, Jayme Burgess of Marathon, Iowa, Kendra Cole of Trimont, Minnesota; nephew, Ethan Lee of Trimont, Minnesota; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marcella and other relatives.

There will be a Celebratio­n of Life at the American Legion on Goodman Street on June 18, 2022 at 2:00pm.
