Bob “Pops” Hallum, 79, passed away on May 12, 2022 after a long battle with a terminal lung disease. Bob was born in Bakersfield, California on March 6, 1943, to Earl and Hazel Hallum and raised in the farming community of Arvin, CA with his siblings, cousins, and lifelong friends. He attended Haven Drive Elementary, Arvin High School, and Bakersfield College. While in school, he loved athletics and excelled in football, wrestling, and baseball. In wrestling, he won the gold medal at the South Yosemite League Championship his senior year in high school. Bob was also a recipient of the Arvin High Boosters Hall of Fame and Bakersfield College Alumni Hall of Fame.

During his high school years, Bob met the love of his life, Ann Stewart. Bob and Ann were married in 1962 and shortly thereafter started their family with 2 children, Rob Hallum and Kathy Hallum Tisinger. Family was always a priority to Bob and he always made sure that he was a good provider. Bob always made time to attend his children's and grandchildren's activities and held a special bond with each.

After marriage, Bob started his professional career as a salesman for BW Implement in Buttonwillow that lasted until 1968, when he purchased Kern Trophies with his wife Ann. During the next 33 years, Bob and Ann built the business into the most reputable awards and gift shop in Kern County. After selling Kern Trophies in 2001, Bob partially retired and became a dealer trade driver for Jim Burke Ford until 2020. He loved driving new cars!

Bob would tell you that one of the most special days in his life was Super Bowl Sunday January 14, 1973, when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. After that date, Bob donated countless hours to discipling youth as President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the 1980's, and many peers through Kern County Promise Keepers, where he was the Regional Director for Kern County in the 1990's. In addition to these organizations, Bob was also actively involved with Westchester Kiwanis and the Bob Elias Hall of Fame. Through all of these organizations and his home church, RiverLakes Community Church, where he served as an usher for over 40 years, Bob developed strong bonds with several lifelong friends that he mentored or who mentored him.

In addition to faith, family, and career, Bob was an avid fisherman and could tell fish stories with the best, including close friends Rick Tucker, Rick Wright, Dennis Jorgensen, Brian Murphy, Norm Wright, and Ken Lifquist. His favorite fishing spots were anywhere, but primarily Tejon Ranch and the June Lake Loop area.

Surviving Bob is his loving wife of 60 years, Ann; son, Rob (Robyn) Hallum and their family Cole (Anna) Hallum, Brock Hallum, and Drew Hallum; daughter, Kathy (Derek) Tisinger and their family Lee (Amber) Tisinger, CJ (Jami) Tisinger, Ryan (Kate) Tisinger, Josh Crowder, and 7 great-grandchildren; his sister, Doris; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at RiverLakes Community Church on June 17, 2022 at 10:30 AM.
