HAROLD WILLIAM HANSON

Harold William Hanson, 85, died Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Mercy Southwest Hospital with his family by his side.

Harold was born December 27, 1936 in Windsor, Ontario Canada, son of Mack and Madeline Hanson. He was the oldest of 4, Walter, Gary, Neil and youngest sister Gail.

As a young man in his 20's Harold traveled to California and discovered his love for the United States where he pursued his career in banking for over 40 years.

Harold was very proud of his community and always went above and beyond to contribute however he could, including donating many gallons of blood, which was very important to him as well as being an active church member of St. Francis and St Phillip The Apostle church.

Local politics was another passion that Harold pursued and his political career was vast, holding seats on several boards including, water and air pollution control as well as being Petroleum Club President. Harold was a city councilman for Ward 5 for 16 years in Bakersfiel­d, from 2000-2016 and was Vice Mayor of Bakersfiel­d twice. He loved his political career and impacted many lives in the community and was respected by his peers.

His appetite for adventure was endless, traveling the world multiple times with many friends and family by his side.

Surviving Harold is his loving wife of 49 years, Lana; daughter Kelly (Brad) Hartwick and their family Adam and Anne of Bakersfiel­d; son David (Eileen) and their family Ryan, Aaron, Emily of Ohio; daughter, Lori (Mike) Duke of Maryland; son, Robert of Long Beach; first wife Joanne Hanson of Ohio and 8 greatgrand­children.

Memorial service will be held at St. Phillip The Apostle Church on Stockdale Hwy., June 23, 2022 at 9:30 am.
