2 hurt in car-to-car shooting in southwest Bakersfield
Two women were injured Monday in a car-to-car shooting in southwest Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Police responded to the 4000 block of Stockdale Highway at 5:50 p.m. An investigation determined the suspect’s vehicle left the scene, and the victims’ vehicle was abandoned, according to a BPD news release.
Two women who had been in the victims’ vehicle arrived at a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the release said. It added that an uninvolved person’s vehicle was also struck by gunfire but its occupants were uninjured.
The investigation is ongoing. There was no public suspect information available. Motive, identity of the participants and other circumstances are still being investigated.

The Bakersfield Police Department is requesting the community’s help in what’s it’s calling a “suspicious circumstances” investigation.
A witness reported seeing a 5- to 6-year-old girl walking near the intersection of South Haley Street and Potomac Avenue at roughly 12:35 p.m. Tuesday. A minivan stopped near her, pulled the girl into the vehicle and drove eastbound on Potomac, according to a BPD news release.
The girl is described as Hispanic, about 4 feet tall weighing 70 pounds. She has black, shoulder-length hair and was wearing a black shirt, green shorts and a backpack.
The mini-van was silver with dark tinted rear windows and had no license plate, according to the news release. It was driven by a man, police said.
No missing children were identified by police in the neighborhood, police said. Nearby schools also didn’t report any missing children.

The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s help to find a missing teenager who is considered to be at risk.
Nathan Alyea, 16, was last seen at about 7:30 p.m. Monday near Pacheco Road and Monitor Street. Alyea is considered at-risk because of a mental disability.
He is described as a white teenager about 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs about 150 pounds. The 16-year-old has brown hair, green eyes and a coin-sized birthmark on his left jaw, the BPD said in a news release.
Alyea was last seen wearing gray gym shorts, no shirt and no shoes.

The Bakersfield Police Department is asking the community’s help to find a suspect in a business burglary.
The incident happened
at 3:30 p.m. May 22 in the 10 block of Denise Avenue, police said. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man about 30 to 40 years old. He stands between about 5 foot, 6 inches and 5 foot, 8 inches tall and weighs about 160 to 180 pounds.
He was wearing a maroon Vans hooded sweatshirt, a red bandana around his neck, black jeans and gray shoes with white soles, according to a BPD news release. It added that he had a green or black backpack.
Police noted the suspect could possibly be a transient frequenting the area of Manor Street and Denise Avenue.

The Bakersfield Police Department reported Tuesday that Mohib Mohammed Musleh Ah, who was reported missing Thursday, has returned home safely.
