2 hurt in car-to-car shooting in southwest Bakersfiel­d

Two women were injured Monday in a car-to-car shooting in southwest Bakersfiel­d, according to the Bakersfiel­d Police Department.

Police responded to the 4000 block of Stockdale Highway at 5:50 p.m. An investigat­ion determined the suspect’s vehicle left the scene, and the victims’ vehicle was abandoned, according to a BPD news release.

Two women who had been in the victims’ vehicle arrived at a hospital with non-life threatenin­g injuries, the release said. It added that an uninvolved person’s vehicle was also struck by gunfire but its occupants were uninjured.

The investigat­ion is ongoing. There was no public suspect informatio­n available. Motive, identity of the participan­ts and other circumstan­ces are still being investigat­ed.

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department is requesting the community’s help in what’s it’s calling a “suspicious circumstan­ces” investigat­ion.

A witness reported seeing a 5- to 6-year-old girl walking near the intersecti­on of South Haley Street and Potomac Avenue at roughly 12:35 p.m. Tuesday. A minivan stopped near her, pulled the girl into the vehicle and drove eastbound on Potomac, according to a BPD news release.

The girl is described as Hispanic, about 4 feet tall weighing 70 pounds. She has black, shoulder-length hair and was wearing a black shirt, green shorts and a backpack.

The mini-van was silver with dark tinted rear windows and had no license plate, according to the news release. It was driven by a man, police said.

No missing children were identified by police in the neighborho­od, police said. Nearby schools also didn’t report any missing children.

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department is asking for the community’s help to find a missing teenager who is considered to be at risk.

Nathan Alyea, 16, was last seen at about 7:30 p.m. Monday near Pacheco Road and Monitor Street. Alyea is considered at-risk because of a mental disability.

He is described as a white teenager about 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs about 150 pounds. The 16-year-old has brown hair, green eyes and a coin-sized birthmark on his left jaw, the BPD said in a news release.

Alyea was last seen wearing gray gym shorts, no shirt and no shoes.

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department is asking the community’s help to find a suspect in a business burglary.

The incident happened

at 3:30 p.m. May 22 in the 10 block of Denise Avenue, police said. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man about 30 to 40 years old. He stands between about 5 foot, 6 inches and 5 foot, 8 inches tall and weighs about 160 to 180 pounds.

He was wearing a maroon Vans hooded sweatshirt, a red bandana around his neck, black jeans and gray shoes with white soles, according to a BPD news release. It added that he had a green or black backpack.

Police noted the suspect could possibly be a transient frequentin­g the area of Manor Street and Denise Avenue.

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department reported Tuesday that Mohib Mohammed Musleh Ah, who was reported missing Thursday, has returned home safely.
