KENT CLAY WILLIAMS

March 10, 1959 – June 18, 2022

-

Kent Clay Williams, age 62, returned home to his heavenly Father and his beloved wife Pam, on June 18, 2022.

Kent is survived by his 3 children Kenith (Rikki), Morgan, and Kristi, two grandsons Clayson and Conner, sister Kimala Wallo (Dan), and children Sean, Tani, Taylor, and families, mother-in-law Sina Knopf and family. And the football team at BYU.

Kent was born on March 10, 1959, in Bakersfield, California, to Kenith and Lahoma Williams. As a child and young adult, Kent enjoyed baseball, his beloved pups, and that dang mustang (as his mother would say). He was an all-star football player and loved to follow all sports throughout his life. He was known for his serving heart and spirited personality. Everyone has a Kent story.

Kent met Pam when he was 21, and they started their life together shortly after. They were married at Pam's parents' home and sealed in the LDS Los Angeles California Temple a year later. Together they welcomed 3 children who were their pride and joy, and animals galore. Kent had a soft spot for the furry ones, and he brought home many rescue animals and has passed on that love of animals to his children.

As a Grimmway employee of 33 years, Kent was the head of transportation and helped with business development. He was a workhorse. Despite being a very successful businessman, his kids will be the first to tell you that dad made it to every game and was their biggest fan. As a Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kent served in many capacities. A few of his favorites included serving a two year mission in the Great Portland Oregon Mission, serving in the young men's group, where he introduced the boys to breakfast burrito Sundays, was on the stake high council, served in prison ministries, and served in a bishopric. Kent was a big fan of education and helping people. In recent years, he served as the president on the board of directors for Valley Achievement Center in Bakersfield, where his son Morgan attended.

To say Kent was a foodie was an understatement. He loved traveling and eating at his favorite places. There are many fond memories of Kent and food, from him prepping food for the local fireman's picnic, to feeding the masses at Grimmway, to catching multiple grills on fire at his home. He was always ready to jump in and was often the first to volunteer. He was very generous that way.

Kent was very selfless. He loved to help and serve in any capacity. He cared for his wife up until she passed away last year. Although he sometimes had a tough outer shell, those that knew him knew that he was really just a big teddy bear. Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Son. You will be truly missed by all. Funeral Services for Kent will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM. 5500 Fruitvale Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93308. Burial will be held for family only, earlier that day at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
