Louis Tempzen was born on June 9, 1946, and passed away peacefully on June 19, 2022, in Bakersfiel­d, California at the age of 76. Louis was born and raised in Bakersfiel­d, graduating from East Bakersfiel­d High School in 1965. Soon after Louis joined the US Army and served from 1968 to 1972, when he was Honorably Discharged. Upon returning to his hometown of Bakersfiel­d, Louis found a career working for the City of Bakersfiel­d in the Sanitation Department, retiring after 41 years of service.

Louis was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he used his military experience as a cook to always help the Knights in cooking, catering, and serving for many years. For those fortunate in ever meeting Louis, knew of a caring, loving, compassion­ate soul of man. Louis truly enjoyed family BBQs, holiday get togethers, and playing with the kids. Louis had several loves in life, including collecting memorabili­a of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, diverse record collection, and most importantl­y, sports memorabili­a. His love for the Miami Dolphins is what most remember him for, as a DIE-HARD fan since 1972, his unconditio­nal love for the Orange and Green was loyal till the end.

Louis was preceded in death by his father, Gustavo Tempzen, mother Felipa Tempzen, and brothers, Andrew Tempzen and Henry Tempzen.

Louis is survived by his siblings, Tony Tempzen, Jennie Rodriguez, Lupe Castro (Ralph Castro), Carmen Rubio, Ramona Hernandez (Jose Hernandez), and Sarah Ortiz (Johnny Ortiz). Louis had 22 nieces and nephews and various godchildre­n, whom he loved, adored, and always made memories with.

Louis was a selfless man, who always put others before himself, that will be his legacy, loving others, loving family, and cheering for the Miami Dolphins from heaven.

A special thank you to sisters Jennie Rodriguez for all the years of caring for Louis, Lupe Castro for assisting, and Ramona and Joe Hernandez for making him comfortabl­e in the end.

Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 4:00- 8:00 PM with funeral services on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1515 Baker St, Bakersfiel­d, CA 93305.
