Edward Glenn Porter, 81, of Santa Maria, California died peacefully on October 20, 2022 in Santa Maria, CA. Glenn was born at Miss Freise's Maternity Home on December 21, 1940 in Bakersfiel­d, CA to Howard and Violet Porter.

Glenn spent his childhood in Bakersfiel­d, resided in Oahu during World War II and attended Bakersfiel­d High School. Glenn worked as a traveling auditor for the State of California before moving to the central coast in 1969 and making it his home for the past 53 years. Glenn was well known as the town's tax consultant and started his career at H&R Block in 1969 before venturing off and starting Glenn Porter and Associates in 1981 where he had offices on Santa Maria Way, Main Street and College Street. Glenn loved to travel to island destinatio­ns such as Cayman Brac, Key West, and Hawaii. He loved to snorkel and hang out on the beach, truly embracing island life.

Glenn was well known for his sarcasm and quick wit as well as his uniform of Hawaiian shirts and suspenders. He was an avid animal lover and owned many cats with unique names throughout his life. He was a wonderful father, uncle, and friend.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Violet Porter, his brother, Allan Porter, his nephews, Michael and Carl Porter and his greatgrand­nephew, Waylon Parker. He is survived by his stepson, Kip Dingman (Carmen), his niece, Catherine Nash (Lloyd), great-nephews James Parker (Jaimie), Ryan Nash, and Kyle Nash.

Glenn's celebratio­n of life will be held on November 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, 1003 E Stowell Rd., Santa Maria, CA 93454. Island attire or suspenders are encouraged but not required.

Glenn will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfiel­d, California.
