Bakersfield – Edward William Bierman, Jr. of Bakersfield, California, passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2023. His difficult battle with cancer and other medical issues showed his courage and persistence as he faced life's challenges with a smile.

Ed was born on February 5, 1940 to Edward William, Sr. and Louise (Carver) Bierman and was raised in St Louis Missouri. He attended Christian Brothers College high school and enjoyed hanging out at his father's Hudson Dealership as much as possible. It was there his love and incredible knowledge of cars began and continued throughout his life. Ed moved to Bakersfield in 1958 and found employment as a salesman at Haberfelde Ford. More importantly, he met Vicki. She was the love of his life. Ed joined the United States Army in 1963 and was stationed at Madigan Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. After serving in the Army, he moved his family back to the midwest where they lived until returning to Bakersfield in 1979.

Always up for a challenge, Ed embarked on a new career in real estate. Ed began and ended his real estate career working side-by-side with Vicki. He always preferred to work as a team and considered it a blessing to do so. He was a long-time broker, realtor and industry leader. Well-known and well-respected throughout the industry, Ed was also very involved with the Bakersfield Association of REALTORS. In 2006, he was honored as REALTOR of the year. Ed served as a Board member for the Association and continued to be involved over the years by serving on a number of committees including the Professional Standards Committee and Grievance Committee.

Ed and Vicki were happily married for 59 years. Their strong love for one another was evident to all who knew them. More important than his career successes was being a father and grandfather. This was of the utmost importance to Ed and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. Time spent with his family usually included fishing, riding ATV's, and racing. As an avid racing fan, NASCAR was his favorite. Ed loved being part of his son and grandson's go kart racing team and even served as director at Bakersfield Kart Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward William Bierman, Sr. and Louise Hatcher, his sister, Dana Bierman, and brother, James Bierman. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Elaine (Samide) Bierman; children, Becky Burgy and husband, Scott, Lisa Hudiburg and husband, Kevin, and Edward Bierman, III. He leaves behind thirteen grandchildren: Christopher, Emily, Niki, Scott and Lisa Burgy; Phillip and Vincent Hudiburg; Ashley, Edward, Alexander, Shai, and Makenzie Bierman; and five great-grandchildren: Reese, Sloan, and Samantha Burgy; Logan Teixeira and Blayden Bierman. He is also survived by his sister Gena Stutzman and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Albert Peinado, M.D., Alan Cartmell, M.D. and staff of CBCC, and Julie Chrisco of Bristol AIM.

There will be a small service for immediate family members only. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
