Shannon Burge was born Shannon Louise Trick in Salem, Oregon on the 12th of September, 1942. She lived a full life blessing everyone she met with the joy of her presence. Shannon was at peace in the comfort of her home on Friday, March the 3rd when she left us, as the love of her life, husband of 50 years, Jerry Burge was there by her side. Shannon is also survived by her two loving sons, Brian (wife Kelly) and Michael Burge.

Jerry met Shannon while both working for Shell Oil in Menlo Park, CA. They had great times joining a bowling league, spending time with friends and especially spending time with each other. On the 29th of July, 1972, they married in Santa Cruz, CA. A year later a company transfer took them to Houston, TX, where they soon had their first child, Brian, then 3 years later, their second son, Michael. In 1983 they were transferred to Bakersfield, bringing them back to California. They went on many trips as a family like the beach, Disneyland and Magic Mountain, even across the Country to places like Yellowstone and to visit family in Oregon, Texas and Minnesota. Shannon enjoyed hiking, rock collecting and especially photography as she had even won several prizes at the Kern County fair with pictures she had taken. Shannon was always up for an adventure and was always in good spirits, never the one that would bring a group down.

Shannon's family, her friends and everyone that she met couldn't help but be touched by her extraordinary heart, a unique heart that was truly genuine. Shannon gave the world everything she had, always kind and always there for anybody. Shannon would deliver her own donations to both the Women's and Bakersfield Homeless shelter alone even when advised not to because of the area. She enjoyed helping the preservation and education of local Kern County history as she would often volunteer to work at the Kern County Museum and enjoyed being in a historic club with her friends known as the 'Bloomer Girls', (ladies dressed in early period attire that would participate in local functions and parades). She was involved with her Church which she also would volunteer her time. Shannon was a loving wife, and a great mother at the same time and would always drop what she was doing if one of her sons needed a ride or wanted her time. Everyone that spent time with Shannon will always be thankful for that time she spent with them, that they were able meet such a wonderful person that really lived without hate for anything or anybody. There was and never will be anyone else like her. Thank you for being you, Love you and already miss you Mom.

The immediate family will both mourn and celebrate the life of their loved one privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church. A Memorial Celebration will be held at the church for friends of Shannon's. Contact church for more info.

Our family Thanks everyone for all the love and appreciation you had for Shannon and the support offered to us, we kindly ask to please respect our wishes during these difficult times.
