CHP: Woman, 20, died in Highway 58 crash after not wearing seat belt
A Tehachapi woman died Tuesday after she was ejected from her vehicle when it overturned on Highway 58, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 20-year-old woman — who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt — was heading west at 3:35 p.m. on Highway 58, east of Bena Road at an undetermined speed when she lost control of her car for unknown reasons and crashed into a dividing wall, CHP wrote. The road was wet, and it was cloudy and rainy, CHP noted in a news release.
The Infinity overturned and the woman died at the scene. Alcohol or drugs aren’t suspected in this crash, the news release said.

Kern County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Hemet man on suspicion of forcing a victim to drive while pointing a gun at the person, according to a news release issued Wednesday.
Deputies based in Mojave went to Silver Queen Road and Division Street on March 6 after receiving reports of a carjacking.
A victim escaped the car, but another was forced to drive, according to a news release. Jarad Marzette, 26, was found in the victim’s car with the second victim, the news release added.
Deputies found a “ghost gun” Marzette threw out while driving and 15 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, the news release added.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man suspected of killing a 55-year-old Bakersfield man.
Sheriff’s deputies are looking for Efren Alvarez, 45, who is a Hispanic man about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. Alvarez has black hair and brown eyes.
He is accused of killing Everado Lozano in the 800 block of Stable Avenue on Saturday. Lozano died from unidentified major injuries, KCSO wrote in a news release.
