Police: 16-year-old bicyclist hit by vehicle
A 16-year-old bicyclist was taken to a hospital Friday night after she was hit by a vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries, according to Bakersfield police.
It happened at 7:02 p.m. at Ming Avenue and El Portal Drive, where the woman who was driving the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police, a Bakersfield Police Department news release said.
The driver was going west on Ming and didn’t see the bicyclist, police reported.
Westbound Ming at Manning Street was closed while officers investigated. Police ask that anyone with information call 661-327-7111.
A man was shot and killed early Saturday at 34th and Q streets, according to Bakersfield Police.
Officers called to the area at 12:53 a.m. found a man, whose identity has not been released, had gunshot wounds and died at the scene, a Bakersfield Police Department news release said.
Police said three people were arrested: Ira Kindle, 45, of Bakersfield was arrested on suspicion of murder; Keith Hamilton, 34, of Bakersfield was arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy; and Terrell Shepherd, 30, of Bakersfield was arrested on suspicion of various firearm charges.

Bakersfield Police are seeking the public’s help finding a missing 29-year-old woman who is considered at-risk because of her health and was last seen Saturday in the 2300 block of Sandpiper Road.
Joanna Alcala is described as Hispanic, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Alcala was last seen wearing a black cardigan, black shirt and light blue jeans, according to a BPD news release.

The Kern County Fire Department is working with local and state agencies to repair damaged infrastructure and assess hazards to decide when the public can return to areas evacuated during the storms, it reported Saturday.
These areas remain under evacuation orders: Portions of Wofford Heights, portions of Poso Creek and Camp Kernville. The KCFD recommends that people:
■ Returning to areas hit by floods take photos and videos of damage for insurance purposes and for agencies helping with recovery.
■ Heed road closures, and don’t attempt to drive in flooded areas.
