SOMETHING TO CLUCK ABOUT

Just a week after we shared those new saucy nuggets, KFC had to up the ante with its “Taste of KFC” deals.

Starting at $4.99, this “value menu with real value,” according to KFC U.S. Chief Marketing Officer Nick Chavez, serves up an assortment of meals for individuals and families.

The meal for one ($4.99) includes two pieces of hot, juicy chicken (drumstick and thigh), mashed potatoes with gravy and a biscuit while the meal for two ($10.99) — or a hungry one — offers four pieces of chicken (drum, thigh, breast, wing), two sides of mashed potatoes with gravy and two biscuits.

The $20 family meal serves up six pieces of chicken on the bone (two drums, two thighs, one breast and one wing), along with four individual sides (choice of secret recipe fries, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes (with or without gravy), coleslaw or sweet corn) and four biscuits.

These offers, available through the end of the year, can be ordered daily in store, at KFC.com and via the KFC app.

For a limited time, the chain is also offering “$10 Tuesdays,” with a bucket of eight pieces (drums and thighs) available for $10 (plus tax). This deal is only available on Tuesdays at select locations ordering through KFC.com or the KFC app.

Wetzel’s Pretzels (2701 Ming Ave. #137 at Valley Plaza Mall; and inside the Walmart at 5075 Gosford Road) is heading back to the 1990s with a new creamsicle drink in honor of its 30th anniversary.

For a limited time, guests can enjoy the Orange Dream, made with sweet, creamy orange citrus granita and layered with soft whip topping. It starts at $6.99.

“It’s a sip of sunshine in a cup,” Hillary Frei, head of marketing at Wetzel’s Pretzels, said in a news release. “On a beautiful spring day, nothing goes better with our beloved freshly-baked pretzels than a cold, sweet and refreshing drink. Introducing the Orange Dream – with the flavors of a timeless classic!”

For the remainder of the year, Wetzel’s will bring back sweet treats of the ‘90s with themed menu items meant to evoke “memories of boomboxes, boy bands and rollerblades in celebration of the decade that gave them their start.”

Jamba (multiple locations) celebrated National Acai Bowl Day on April 6 by launching an acai peanut butter and chocolate hazelnut bowl and acai tropical bowl topped with bananas, pineapple, granola, honey and coconut flakes. The chain also added a tropical waffle bowl with a Greek yogurt or coconut whip base.

Also new on the menu are the cupcake and Cinn-A-Stack milkshakes. The chain also brought back its viral Pepsi Maple Syrup Cola, a limited-edition beverage flavor.

Those making their own coffee drinks at home got a boost from Nescafe. The brand is selling a Nescafe Ice Roast for iced coffee lovers and Nescafe Gold Espresso for espresso without the machine.

“The coffee drinking habits of Americans are ever-changing, but we continue to see a growing demand for espresso-based and cold coffee beverages – alongside an increasing interest in making these cafe-quality beverages from home,” Jonathan Iams, director of Nescafe U.S. Brand Marketing, said in a news release. “Nescafe’s newest products offer bold flavor and convenience, ensuring every coffee lover can make their perfect cup without compromise.”

Both products mix with the liquid of your choice for a quick option in the morning.

The 6-ounce Nescafe Ice Roast ($7.39) can make the equivalent of 166 cups of iced coffee. Nescafe Gold Espresso ($7.39 for a 3.5 oz. bottle) can produce the equivalent to 50 espresso shots.
