CLIFTON/PASSAIC - John J. McNamara, age 84, of Clifton, and formerly of Passaic, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Jack, as he was commonly known, was born and raised in Passaic. After graduation from Pope Pius High School, he enjoyed a long career in banking in finance, most recently serving as Assistant Vice President with Valley National Bank and later as Vice President and Marketing Director with Lakeland Bank. Throughout his life and career, Jack served in numerous profession­al and philanthro­pic organizati­ons including the American Institute of Banking, NJ Bankers Associatio­n, Passaic County Bankers Associatio­n, the United Way of Passaic Valley, Passaic Jaycees, Bloomingda­le Chamber of Commerce, Inter-Service Club Council of Passaic, Salvation Army, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America, Little Falls and Butler Rotary Club, and St. Nicholas R.C. Church of Passaic. In addition, Jack also served his country in the United States Army. Jack was a longtime parishione­r of St. Nicholas R.C. Church in Passaic and in more recent years at St. Philip R.C. Church in Clifton. Known for his generosity and frequent acts of kindness, and his wonderful dry sense of humor, Jack’s life was a blessing to all who had the honor of knowing him. Jack was the son of his late parents, Joseph and Julia McNamara; brother of the late Joseph McNamara, Eugene and his wife Margaret McNamara of Wayne, and the late Henry McNamara and his wife Joan of Wyckoff; and dear uncle and great uncle of numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great nephews. Friends may visit with the family at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne, on Monday, March 11, 2024 from

4-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, March 12 from the funeral home, then to Our Lady of Consolatio­n R.C. Church,

1799 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne where at 10:00 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Following the mass, Jack will be laid to rest at St Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy in Jack’s name are asked to consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
