BRADLEY BEACH - John R. Amico, 84, of Bradley Beach, NJ, sadly passed away on March 18, 2024.

John, the son of Joseph and Camile Amico, was born on February 17, 1940, in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Ridgefield Park High School, Class of 1957. Following graduation, he worked for the Bergen Record as a typesetter before taking early retirement in 1984, when Linotype and hot metal were replaced by Phototypes­etting. Shortly thereafter, John went to work for an alarm security business and eventually started his own alarm company. He was also a lifetime member of the Internatio­nal Brotherhoo­d of Electrical Workers, Local No. 3 of New York City. John also worked parttime job driving a school bus, which was less a job, but something he truly enjoyed doing and continued to do through most of his life. In his spare time, John, an avid lover of sports, worked as a baseball and softball umpire.

John raised his two children, Joseph and Christine, in Maywood, NJ. During his time in Maywood John was active in the Maywood Boys Club, where he enjoyed coaching and served as the President. He was also a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.

John, relocated to Bradley Beach, NJ more than 35 years ago. The beaches of the Jersey Shore quickly stole his heart, making the many years of commuting to Northern NJ seem effortless. It is here that he met and married Joan Pollard in 1992. He was also, the long-time President of the Yesteryear­s Condo Associatio­n.

John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfathe­r. While John was a fan of all sports, and a fan of the New York Yankees, he may have been one of the New York Giants’ biggest and most vocal fans. John only missed a handful of games since 1956, until he developed some health issues a few years ago. He was fortunate to attend four of the five New York Giants Super Bowls and travel to many opposing team stadiums where he proudly wore his Giants gear, especially at the Eagles stadium.

John was predecease­d by his parents and stepdaught­er Pamela L. Schwartz. John is survived by his wife Joan Amico, children Joseph and his wife Vinnie Amico of Franklin Lakes, Christine and her husband Derek Eisenberg of Maywood, Stepchildr­en Kim and her husband Chris Kondas of Manahawkin, and Renee Pollard-Sacco of Brick. He is survived by his Brother Dennis Amico and his wife Gerry of Saddle River and children Nicole Smith and her husband Harrell of Ridgewood and Danielle Amico of Saddle River. He is survived by his grandchild­ren Alyssa Amico, and Maxwell, Camryn and Victoria Eisenberg and step-grandchild­ren Noble Giordano and her husband Richard, Rebecca Schwartz, Christophe­r and Lauren Kondas, and Chace, Kyler, and Silver Sacco.

A mass in his remembranc­e will be held Saturday April 27th, at 11AM, at Holy Innocence, 3455 West Bangs Avenue, Neptune.
