A Boston Public Schools student was allegedly tasered by another student on Monday, leaving her with a laceration on her forehead.

The confrontation happened around 11 a.m. at the Josiah Quincy Upper School, which teaches students in grades 6 through 12.

The girl told police that on Friday, her former friend had yelled at her and accused her of talking about her behind her back, which she denied doing, according to a police report. The girl said they didn’t talk over the weekend but ran into each other in a hallway on Monday, the report said.

The girl said her former friend “jumped in her face,” and she responded by saying, “why are you in my face after everyone told you to stay away from me.” The girl said her former friend started screaming and pulled out a taser and “was hitting me in my head and then she tased me,” the report said.

A witness told police he was standing between the two students when the suspect “pulled out a black object from the front pocket of her hoodie and began to hit the victim in the head with it,” according to the report. He heard “a buzzing or zapping noise” and saw what he described as a “lightning bolt and a wire hit the floor.”

The witness told police the girl screamed, “She tased me!” the report said.

The girl was bleeding from her face and was brought to the nurse’s office. The girl’s mother said she would take her to the hospital, the report said.

The suspect left school after the alleged attack and her mother was notified, the report said.

Later that day, Heads of School Richard Chang and Stephen Cirasuolo informed the school community about the altercation.

“A preliminary investigation points to the student potentially being struck with an unknown object, possibly an electronic device,” they wrote. “We want to reassure you that this is an isolated incident and will be addressed consistent with BPS policies. School staff immediately responded and worked to deescalate the situation and BPS Safety Services and Boston Police were called to provide assistance.”

“The students involved in the altercation will face disciplinary action in accordance with the BPS Code of Conduct, and an investigation into this incident is ongoing,” they added.
