the NBA opened an investigation into toronto two-way player Jontay Porter amid gambling allegations, something Raptors coach Darko rajakovic said he became aware of shortly before the team’s game monday night. A league spokesman confirmed that the probe had been opened. ESPN said the investigation surrounded Porter's performance in games on Jan. 26 and march 20. in both games, Porter played briefly before leaving citing injury or illness. soccer barbosa banned 2 years
Brazilian striker Gabriel barbosa was suspended for two years monday following a doping fraud investigation. the country’s Anti-Doping Sports court of Justice voted, 5-4, to punish Barbosa. He brought attention to himself by his erratic behavior during a surprise test April 8, 2023, one day before Flamengo played the Rio de Janeiro state championship. Anti-doping officers were largely ignored by Barbosa, who took his test hours after his teammates.
alves out on $1.2m bail
Brazilian star Dani alves was released from prison after paying $1.2 million in bail to be set free while appealing a rape conviction, a Spanish court said. Alves, 40, handed over his passports, with prosecutors having argued against releasing him on bail because of a possible flight risk. Alves last month was found guilty of raping a woman in 2022 and sentenced to four years, six months in prison.
