A longtime resident of Medford, Stoneham, and formerly of Reading, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, March 31, 2024. He was 90 years old. Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Pat. He leaves behind a legacy as a devoted father to Jane Tierney and her husband, Kenneth, Richard Cataldo and Janice Dodd, Joan DiNapoli, and her late husband, Robert, John Cataldo and his wife, Rebecca as well as the late Robert Cataldo. 4. Richard served in the U.S. Marine Corps before proudly serving 30 years as a police officer for the Metropolit­an District Commission and retiring from the Massachuse­tts State Police. Family and friends are invited to join in a Gathering to share memories with his family on Sunday, April 7th, 2024 at the Barile Family Funeral Home, located at 482 Main St., (RT28), STONEHAM, from 2pm to 5pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, April 8, 2024, starting with a Procession from the Barile Funeral Home at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass celebratin­g Richard’s eternal life at St. Patrick’s Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, at 10am. He will be Laid to Rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
