Father to run Marathon in slain children’s honor

- By Maddie Khaw Boston Globe staff reporter John R. Ellement contributed to this report.

Patrick Clancy, the father of three young children who were killed last year, will run the Boston Marathon on Monday in their honor.

Clancy will be running to raise money for the Boston Children’s Hospital through its Miles for Miracles team. He’s already surpassed his $25,000 fund-raising goal, having reached more than $31,000, according to his fund-raising page.

“In the short time they were here, my kids brought me so much joy and couldn’t have made their dad prouder,” Clancy said on his fund-raising page. “It goes without saying that losing them has been devastating and it’s a heartbreak that I’ll live with forever, but I’ve committed myself ºFor retired Bruins star Zdeno Chara, Boston is just one in a series of races. C3. to honoring their memory by trying to bring positive change.”

His children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8month-old Callan — were allegedly killed by their mother, Clancy’s wife, Lindsay M. Clancy.

On his fund-raising page, Clancy detailed Cora’s aspirations to be a “doctor and a mama,” Dawson’s “ability to bring smiles to people’s faces,” and Callan’s upbeat demeanor.

Callan spent his last moments in Clancy’s arms, he wrote, at the Boston Children’s Hospital.

“Although I wished so badly for a different outcome, I was overwhelmed by the compassion and professionalism of the doctors and nurses in the ICU,” Clancy wrote. “They gave me a little more time with my boy and I’ll forever be grateful for that.”

Lindsay M. Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder in Plymouth Superior Court.
