Grandview

Kyle Borror came close to winning a Modified feature at Grandview Speedway last year, but couldn’t accomplish the feat. Saturday night the 2015 Hard Luck recipient started seventh in the 28car starting grid, took over the lead on the sixth lap restart and later held off the challenges of 10-time point champion Jeff Strunk and defending champion Craig Von Dohren to capture his first ever career victory in the T.P. Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified All-American Racing Series 30-Lap feature.

“I was wore out at the finish,” said an elated Borror on the second last caution restart. “I thought I would be a sitting duck seeing Strunk and VonDohren right behind me, but I wasn’t about to give up and I kept riding the cushion.”

The decision paid off for the Peach Bottom resident as he came out on top.

Brian Shuey collected his third BRC NASCAR 25-lap Late Model feature winner by holding off the challenges of defending point champion Chuck Schutz. “I knew Schutz was behind me and I tried to mix-up the lanes and just kept trying to hit my marks.” Shuey thanked Scott and Sue Lee and the crew for all their efforts and countless hours plus he sent out special get well wishes to his dad and mom.

The 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman feature was filled with numerous accidents, but when everything was all set and done Ryan Lilick was the sixth different winner and he claimed his first win of the year.

All three winners received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers. $250, Modifieds; and $100 to both the Late Model and Sportsman division. They also were awarded the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award.

Lincoln

Brandon Rahmer turned around a tough start to the 2016 season by holding off a stellar field of sprint cars to claim his second career win in the 25-lap 410 sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night.

“This year’s kinda been rollin’ off a little tough, but I’ve been drawing bad and haven’t really been racing like myself,” said Rahmer after matching his brother with his first win of the season and becoming the ninth different winner in 11 races in the Pigeon Hills this year. “I was really good in the heat and finally put a whole night together … and I’m glad that I’m finally standing here.”

Alan Krimes crossed 1.43 seconds behind the winner, with Cory Haas, Brent Marks coming from ninth to finish fourth, and Freddie Rahmer fifth. Sixth through tenth were Danny Dietrich, Robbie Kendall, Austin Hogue, Brian Montieth, and Chase Dietz. East Berlin’s Wyatt Hinkle claimed his first career Lincoln win in the 20-lap 358 sprint car feature.

Selinsgrove

Bad luck struck Mark Smith in a big way just past halfway of Saturday night’s 25-lap 360 Sprint car feature at Selinsgrove Speedway. It was the fourth time in 2016 that the United Racing Club joined the Newville Family of Companies 360 Sprint cars at the Speedway. Smith led until lap 16 when his car made contact with a lapped car and then the wall before flipping on the frontstretch into turn one. Smith’s bad luck caught second place Curt Michael and third place Jason Shultz, who were caught up in the accident as well. All drivers walked away from the scary incident unharmed. Ryan Kissinger was the fastest car on the track before the big wreck and remained the fastest car throughout Kissinger led the rest of the way ahead of TJ Stutts and Robie Stillwaggon. Kissinger’s third career Selinsgrove feature win came at the wheel of a Ford-powered machine. Eric Tomece and Larry Kelleher rounded out the top five finishers.
