Meals on Wheels in need of volunteers

- Boyertown Area Multi-Service

In March of this year, Boyertown Area MultiService added a ninth Meals on Wheels route to accommodate more recipients in need of Meals on Wheels services. This additional route was necessary and helped us keep the routes from getting too long.

We currently have volunteers who have been delivering Meals on Wheels for 20 to 40 years and are now needing to retire from their volunteer work. We’re now recruiting for new Meals on Wheels Volunteers to step into a variety of roles as soon as possible!

Our nine Meals on Wheels routes serve more than 120 home-bound clients per day with a hot noon meal as well as an additional cold evening meal, equivalent to more than 240 meals delivered each day. In 2015, we prepared, packaged and delivered 36,750 delicious and nutritious Meals on Wheels meals.

If you have at least one and a half to two hours between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. that you’re available during the week, we’d love to have you join us! You can choose to volunteer once a month or more frequently, whatever works for you. Usually, each route has two volunteers – one to drive and one to carry the meal inside, some drivers prefer to do the route alone. Training is provided.
