Miller-Keystone announces 2016 scholarship and award recipients
Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2016 Angela Hohl Memorial Award and the 2016 Blood Donor Recruitment Scholarship.
The Angela Hohl Memorial Award is presented each year to the High School that experiences the largest percentage increase in donor participation over the previous school year. Recipient of the award this year is Reading High School, which experienced a 197 percent increase in donor participation during the 2015-16 academic year.
Presented annually in May, the Blood Donor Recruitment Scholarship is designed to encouraged and reward high school blood drive chairpersons for their efforts in stimulating interest and increasing the available regional blood supply. By simply hosting one or more blood drives with MKBC and achieving certain recruitment benchmarks, a student from each participating high school is guaranteed a Scholarship award; awards are now presented per school, based on the results of the individual schools’ blood drives during the academic year. Recipients of a scholarship award must have been an active participant of their high school’s blood drives committee.
This year, a grand total of 32 Scholarship awards were presented by Miller-Keystone Blood Center.
