The Center at Spring Street hosts ‘American Bandstand’ Summer Picnic
Members and guests of The Center at Spring Street at Boyertown Area Multi-Service cued up outside the doors on Thursday morning, June 30, well in advance of the Center opening. The maximum capacity crowd of 172 people was anxious to participate in picnic games and a quilt and basket raffle.
The Center decorations, games and over-all theme were the vision of Assistant Center Director, Pat Petrauskas. A picnic-style lunch of grilled burgers, fries, watermelon and cake was prepared by Executive Chef Chris Mest and Prep Chef Ursula Wieland, assisted by a large group of hard-working volunteers. A second wave of an additional 45 guests joined the festivities for the afternoon performance of Jeff Krick and Jeffrey Krick, Jr. as they entertained us with music from the 50s and 60s.
The “American Bandstand” themed Summer Picnic was a hit with those in attendance as many sang and danced to the popular music of the “Philadelphia Bandstand” days. The entertainment was sponsored in part by Family Caregivers Network, of Pennsburg.
