Morlatton Village program to focus on importance of preservati­on

What exactly is the Historic Preservati­on Trust of Berks County and why is preservati­on so important? Come on out to Morlatton Village on Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. to find out.

Longtime board member and former president Matt Barnhart will offer a brief overview of the Trust and its history before discussing the benefits of restoring and reusing historic structures. A brief tour of some of the buildings at Morlatton Village will also be included.

Matt Barnhart is the former president of the Historic Preservati­on Trust of Berks County. He is a Historic Properties Specialist at Keller Williams Realty Elite and the owner of Historic Proportion­s, LLC. Mr. Barnhart is a great advocate for adaptive reuse of historic structures and has been instrument­al in the Trust’s outreach and advocacy.

The Historic Preservati­on Trust of Berks County (HPTBC) has announced a series of programs that will be offered through October at Morlatton Village in Douglassvi­lle. These site-wide programs will include various formats and topics including exhibits, demonstrat­ions, interactiv­e sessions, and oral and graphic presentati­ons. Light refreshmen­ts will be provided and tours of Morlatton Village will be offered. Program will begin in the White Horse Inn. Suggested donation $2/ person. All proceeds benefit the Trust.
