The Boyertown Area Times

Mayor: Thank you for the memories.

- Marianne Deery Mayor of Boyertown

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.

Two ladies, Teresa Steuer and Sue Novesel took those words very seriously and 10 years ago, under the umbrella of Kiwanis, they formed the Aktion Club. Unfortunately with the demise of the local chapter of Kiwanis, the Aktion club will no longer exist.

Even though the Aktion club members have disabilities, it did not stop them from giving back to our community. They created and decorated a Christmas Tree at Twin Turrets in time for the public to enjoy for the Holiday Open House Tour and they also assisted at the Historical Society for the Holiday Open House Tour, created cards and bags for Caitlin’s Smiles for children in hospitals, packed toiletries for Boyertown Area Multi-Service and decorated bags for Meals on Wheels. There was always a service project to benefit others. With their dues, they were able to purchase a bench and flower pot which adorn our main street. The balance in their treasury will be donated to Building A Better Boyertown (BBB) specifically to maintain the flowers in the pots.

I cannot praise enough the dedication of Teresa and Sue. I also have to recognize and thank the parents and volunteers for their tremendous support of their children. Their love for the Aktion Club enabled them to grow and shine with their “abilities”. Every meeting with you has been an absolute joy! It has been an honor and pleasure to know you. Thank you for accepting me as a member of the Aktion Club.

To Debra, Jennifer, Dan, Brooke, Kim, Kelly, Michael, Bobbi Jo, Evan, Chuck, Casey, Jacob, and Chris,

THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES.
