Eerie Limited Historic Haunted

Ride: Charles J. Adams III, the renowned expert on paranormal activity, is joining us for an entertaini­ng ride on the Colebrookd­ale Railroad. Learn the haunted secrets of the Secret Valley Line on this very special evening run. Adams will highlight ghost activity in the Boyertown area, based on his extensive research. A Starwatch: is slated for Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. at the Boyertown Planetariu­m. The program looks at the different sky events for September including how to use a star map. If the weather is clear, participan­ts will go outside to view the wonders of the night sky. If it is cloudy there will be an extended planetariu­m program. Admission to the planetariu­m is $4 for adults and $2.50 for students and children. The planetariu­m is located in the back of the building at the Junior High East Center on route 73. Supper and Bake Sale: 90th Annual Vegetable Soup Supper and Bake Sale to be held from 3-7 p.m. at Calvary United Church of Christ. Everyone is Welcome! Tribute concert: Boyertown Alumni Marching Unit will perform a free concert honoring local first responders at a 15th Year Anniversar­y of 9-11. The concert will feature Boyertown Sr. High and Jr. High Show Choirs and Boyertown Alumni Choral Associatio­n. This concert will begin at 2pm. in the Boyertown Jr. High West Auditorium. St. John’s Lutheran Church of Boyertown is sponsoring the event.

Rally Day: come out and join us at 9 a.m. and help us kick off our Sunday School Rally Day. We have magical fun planned for this year! Kyle and Kelly Peron, both Magicians, will perform a magic show with a bible lesson built in. They may be able to levitate a child, if we have the right volunteer! The Peron’s perform their magic for churches, camps, private parties, as well as Knoebles and Fairs. They are very excited to kick off our Sunday School year with their magic. Everyone is welcome to join us in the Fellowship Hall at 9 am. Event is at Calvary United Church Of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Barto.

New Hanover AARP: Meets on Monday at the New Hanover Lutheran Church, Lutheran Road, Gilbertsvi­lle. Optional social time with a bring-your-own bag lunch (beverage and desserts provided) is at 12p.m. Entertainm­ent will be provided by “Timesless Tunes” music of the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s. Meeting is at 12:30 p.m. All those age 50 and older are invited to attend.

Oktoberfes­t in Boyertown: Building a Better Boyertown will host their 9th annual Oktoberfes­t celebratio­n on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., on Saturday from 11 to 9 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 18. On Saturday we will offer crafters, artists, and local food vendors starting at 11:00am at the Town Center Parking Lot off of Reading Avenue and Philadelph­ia Avenue. Tapping of the ceremonial keg is at 11:00am followed by German music, German entertainm­ent, food, wine & beer until 9:00 pm. Breakfast: Bally Mennonite Church, Route 100 in Bally, will be serving a Pancake breakfast, including pancakes, French toast, sausage, scrapple, OJ, tea, & coffee in the Church Fellowship hall from 7-11 a.m. The cost is a donation. Proceeds from this pancake breakfast will provide

funds for the Sahara Children’s home in Nepal, which serves underprivi­leged children. Poetry Reading with Jennifer

Hetrick: Oley Valley Community Library is hosting this project’s next poetry reading at 1 p.m. Residents Donald Gilbert & John Groff of Earl Township, Berks County, Pennsylvan­ia will be special guests. Gilbert served as the head colorist of Bally Ribbon Mills for several decades, and one of Groff’s jobs was at Windmill Cheese Co. in Oley Township, Berks County, Pennsylvan­ia. The Oley Valley Community Fair fair is also this same weekend. so you can visit the fair & this reading all in one afternoon. Please RSVP if you can attend, due to limited seating. Haunted Boyertown Historic Ghost Walk: Charles J. Adams, III will be at Oktoberfes­t to meet and greet his fans in the afternoon, and will lead a Haunted Boyertown Historic Ghost Walk beginning at 8:00 pm from the Community Room in the lower level of the Boyertown Borough Hall at 100 S. Washington Street. This entertaini­ng walk about Boyertown highlights properties where there is known or suspected paranormal activity and emphasizes the history behind it.
