Bears handle Phoenixvil­le, Upper Perk; draw with LC

Girls Soccer

BOYERTOWN 3, PHOENIXVIL­LE 0 >> The Bears broke through with three goals in an eight-minute span in the second half to dispatch the Phantoms on Sept. 19.

Lauren Haley scored in the 67th minute, followed by Maddie Monka and Kylie Webb scores to improve Boyertown to 5-2 (3-2 PAC). Kaleigh Gallagher had an assist. BOYERTOWN 5, UPPER PERKIOMEN 1 >> The Bears broke out early in the second half with four goals in an eight-minute span as Lauren Haley completed her hat trick in a PAC crossover win on Sept. 21.

Beyond Haley’s three scores, Corinne Renninger (one assist) and Grace Conover (two assists)

rounded out Boyertown’s scoring. Jessie Fisher scored late in the first half for Upper Perkiomen. BOYERTOWN 2, LANSDALE

CATHOLIC 2 >> Corinne Renninger paced the Bears with a goal and an assist during a non-conference tie against the Crusaders on Sept. 24.

Sierra Landes added a score for the visitors.

PERKIOMEN 1 >> The Bears battered the Tribe in an eight-goal first half as Garrett Halteman scored a goal and had two assists on Sept. 21. Others with multi-point games were Sal Marciante and Connor Reiss. Also scoring for Boyertown were Jimmy Towers, Ben Wise and Derek Dierolf. For Upper Perk, Austin Selfinger scored and Jackson

Lill made 17 saves. BOYERTOWN 6, POPE JOHN

PAUL II 1 >> Alex Kidwell, Sal Marciante, Alec Brisbois and Garrett Halteman each had a goal and an assist for the Bears on Sept. 23.

Will Schul and Erik Recke also scored for Boyertown; Tim Faust netted PJP’s goal in the second half. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 3, BOYERTOWN 2, OT >> Alex Kidwell scored twice during the Bears’ non-conference overtime loss to Henderson on Sept. 24.

Kidwell scored off feeds from Sam Marks and Jimmy Towers while Connor McKeown made two saves in goal for Boyertown. Henderson scored the game-winner with just over two minutes left in the first overtime period.

Field hockey

BOYERTOWN 4, PHOENIXVIL­LE 0 >> Ashley Dierolf scored twice while Tiff Diachynsky had a goal and an assist and the Bears downed the Phantoms in PAC action on Sept. 19.

Hannah Wentzel rounded out the scoring with a goal while Maddy Siejk finished with an assist. Kaitlyn Berger made three saves in the cage to preserve the shutout. OLEY VALLEY 6, BOYERTOWN

0>> Sam Buzalewski scored two goals to lead the Lynx to a non-league win over the Bears on Sept. 21.

Kaitlyn Berger had 17 saves for Boyertown (6-4). UPPER PERKIOMEN 3, BOYERTOWN 1 >> Upper Perk pulled away in the second half to maintain its unbeaten (7-0) record while getting goals from Liz Fox, Kathryn Lehman and Hope Flack while AiYi Young had two assists on Sept. 23.

Boyertown’s goal came from Tiff Diachynsky. Goalie Katelyn Burkhardt made nine saves.

Cross country

PIAA FOUNDATION MEET >> Owen J. Roberts’ Liam Conway was the highest finisher among area schools in the boys’ field of the meet at Hershey on Sept. 24.

Conway placed third in the Boys Gold race, with a time of 16:16. Other local runners finishing in the Top 50 of the race were Spring Ford’s Shane Ainscoe (31st, 17:04), Patrick Power (37th, 17:07) and Jacob McKenna (45th, 17:12); Boyertown’s Dominic DeRafelo (43rd, 17:11); and OJR’s Conor Murray (48th, 17:14).

The Rams were sixth in the team standings with 253 points, Boyertown 13th (415) and Roberts tie for 18th (509).

Boys Golf

METHACTON 191, BOYERTOWN 231 >> Harvey Smith shot one-under-par on Hickory Valley’s Ambassador Course to lead the Warriors’ PAC victory over the Bears on Sept. 20.

Smith’s 35 was followed by teammate Kyle Vance at 36. BOYERTOWN 218, POTTSGROVE 228 >> Mark Engler carded a match-low 2-over 37 to lead the Bears past the Falcons in a PAC match at Blackwood G.C. on Sept. 21.

Kyle Green and Jim Gassner followed each finishing at 44 while Zach Little (46) and Connor Fellin (47) rounded out Boyertown’s card. Cameron Mowery led Pottsgrove with a 42 followed by Wyatt Yashura at 44.

Girls Golf

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 193,

BOYERTOWN 209 >> Liddie McCook shot a 42 to lead East’s PAC victory over the Bears at Hickory Valley on Sept. 22.

Savanna Haas and Katie Goida shared low-score honors for Boyertown with their 50s.

Girls Tennis

METHACTON 7, BOYERTOWN

0>> The Warriors were solid in doubles, dropping just one game in their PAC victory over the Bears on Sept. 22.

Methacton’s top three doubles — Kate Benson/ Syd Thompson, Amanda Amornwiche­t/Anna Ryu, Rachael Dorn/Claire Fortin — all posted 6-0, 6-0 verdicts. Boyertown’s best individual showing came at first singles, where Rachael Moyer won five games.
