Singer-songwriter Stephanie Grace is set to headline a sold out concert for the grand opening of The State Theatre.

The goal was to fill all 200 seats in the newly-renovated theater; weeks prior to the event, that goal has been accomplished. “I still can’t get over it,” said Grace about the ticket sales. She and the band had just completed the set list the night before.

Grace, of Douglassville, describes herself as a local girl and says she was surprised when was told the concert would be State’s grand opening event.

“I thought it was quite an honor,” she said, noting the theater’s history and said she would have attended the opening event if she wasn’t slated to perform.

This isn’t the first time she’s performed at the theater. Many years ago, back in the eighth grade, she performed as an opener and remembers feeling nervous about it.

Things will be different this time around — “To be performing with the full band, and with everything that’s happened with Boyertown and the community as a whole,” Grace explained how it won’t be the same as before.

Traveling has slowed down at the moment, but Grace plans to return to Nashville in 2017 to do some recording. She noted how it

was difficult for a time back in 2015 as she trying to finish high school and kick off her music career. Support from family, friends, and the community has helped her to thrive.

“Everyone has really embraced what I’m doing, and to be a part of this is very cool,” said Grace. “We’re still performing locally – all over Pennsylvania and all over the region. It’s a blast.”

The group covers acoustic and full band material; they perform at bars, full festivals, and everything in between. The material itself varies from modern pop to classic country, as well as original material.

“We definitely mix it,” said Grace. “Hopefully there will be something for everyone in the audience.”

The band Kim and Paul will be opening the Oct. 29 State Theatre concert.

“It’s a great way to the start the night,” said Grace about the lead act. She recalled seeing Kim perform many years ago. “She has such confidence and a strong voice. I love Kim to death. She’s an incredible person and performer. Over the years we’ve formed a musical friendship.” The concert is all ages. “I’m so excited — it’s going to be an amazing night.”

The State Theatre of Boyertown was built in 1912 and has undergone several renovations. The theater most recently closed it’s doors in March 2015. Earlier this year, the State Theatre Preservation Society formed in an effort to save the local historic landmark. The fund raising effort for a film projector continues; in the meantime the theater will be hosting live performances. Recent renovations include repairs to the roof, the ceiling, new air conditioning installation, heating upgrades, and refurbished carpeting.
