T.P. Trailers returning as lead sponsor to Grandview

- By Mercury staff sports@21st-centurymedia.com @PottsmercSports on Twitter

Again in 2017, as they have for the past five years, T.P. Trailers of Limerick will continue as a major sponsor at NASCAR sanctioned stock car racing at Grandview Speedway.

The Perkins family, operators of T.P. Trailers, feel they gain great exposure for their business through their sponsorship at Grandview, and it results in increased support for their business from the racers and the fans. Over the course of the past few years, thousands of dollars have been distributed by the well-known local business that specializes in just about anything relating to trailers, rental and sales, along with other equipment and services.

Again this year, T.P. Trailers will be posting bonus bucks in the form of $250 for the winner of each Saturday night T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified feature race. That will bring the top prize to $2,750. In addition, the winner of the BRC Late Model and Sportsman stock car feature races on Saturday nights will receive $100 extra.

Racers are reminded in order to be eligible for the awards a T.P. Trailers decal must be clearly visible on both sides of the race car. And this will be strictly enforced.

“We are happy to be back as a sponsor at Grandview,” T.P. Trailers spokesperson Tom Perkins said. “We enjoy the great relationship we have with the Rogers family and the stock car racing community,

“We have had great results from our marketing efforts at Grandview.”

Once the schedule for 2017 has been finalized, a date will be set for the annual T.P. Trailers Night, which is part of their sponsorship package.

In addition to the sponsorship night being a part of their awards program, T.P. Trailers also receives a half page ad in the weekly program book and an 8x16 billboard that is seen by all the fans and racers, along with regular public address mentions.

T.P. Trailers, Inc. is a family-owned and operated business specializing in the sale, rental and repair of landscape and utility trailers, dump inserts and trailers, cargo trailers, utility trailers, car haulers, ATV trailers, storage trailers, storage containers and ConEx boxes, open and enclosed motorcycle trailers, snow plows and salt spreaders, truck beds, bodies, bodies and interchangeable truck systems. Approaching its 52nd anniversary as a truck maintenance facility, T.P. Trailers expanded into the trailer/container industry nearly 25 years ago.

Indoor Auto Racing Series

Anthony Sesely’s three wins in the NAPA Auto Parts Gamblers Classic in Atlantic City established him as a major player in Indoor racing.

The 33-year old driver from Matawan, N.J. is hoping a new ride — driving for one of the true super stars of the sport — will be the ticket to getting him back to the winners circle.

Sesely swept to victory in the 2013, 2014 and 2016 Atlantic City features driving for his family-owned team. At Trenton, he’ll debut in a Three Quarter (TQ)-Midget owned by Lou Cicconi, himself a four-time winner of the Indoor Auto Racing Championship Series fueled by VP Racing Fuels

“The car is one of Lou Cicconi’s.” Sesely said. “He completely redid it from what it was last year.”

The 2016-2017 Indoor series begins with the Friday and Saturday, December 9-10 events at Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, N.J.

Sesely, who won his three Indoor races in a chain-driven 600 Micro Sprint, will now be driving a more conventional 750 TQ Midget.

“It will be different,” Sesely said. “I drove a 750 indoors before I built the 600. It takes a completely different style of driving each kind of car.”

The man Sesely and all others will have to work overtime to defeat is Erick Rudolph. The Ransomville. N.Y. pilot won last year’s TQ Battle of Trenton and the 2015-2016 championship.

Other early TQ Midget entries have been filed by seven-time LSMP Indoor TQ feature race winner Ted Christopher of Plainville, Conn., past American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association circuit champions Matt Janisch of Nazareth, Ryan Tidman of Holland. Also, perennial asphalt Modified standouts Jimmy Blewett of Howell, N.J. Zane Zeiner of Bath and Earl Paules of Palmerton.

As a special preview of the 2016-2017 Indoor Racing Series, general admission tickets for Friday’s Battle Of Trenton opener have been priced at just $10 for adults and $7 for children.

The ultra-quick TQ Midgets will headline both Friday’s opening night and Saturday’s “Battle Of Trenton” feature event finale. The TQ Midgets are lightweight high-tech race cars powered by 750cc motorcycle engines that achieve speeds upward of 75 mph when driven by professional race car drivers from eight states and Canada.

The Friday night race program, which begins at 7:30 p.m., consists of 60 TQ Midgets split into three 20-lap qualifier races. A complete program of heat races and feature event for the Champ Karts is also on the schedule.

Attendees can get a close up look at a TQ Midgets at Fan Zone located on the concourse. Top drivers and Ms. Motorsports 2016 Arynne Moody will be appearing at Fan Zone offering autographs and photos free of charge. Ryan Flores, a member of Roger Penske’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team, will be among those top TQ drivers who will be meeting and greeting Fan Zone attendees for Friday’s races.

On Saturday, the “Battle Of Trenton” 40 lap feature event will be held after a series of qualifying events for the TQ Midgets. The always popular and wild Slingshots will also be part of this program sponsored by Oliver Communications in Bordentown, N.J. and Pete & Elda’s Bar in Neptune City. N.J.

Tickets for Saturday’s races are available starting at $17 for adults and $7 for children. Fan Fest will be held inside the speedway one hour prior to the 7 p.m. starting time. The entire field of race cars competing Saturday will be on display during Fan Fest, and drivers will be available for free autographs and photos by their cars.

The Trenton race is part one of a threerace Len Sammons Motorsports Productions (LSMP) Indoor Series. Other races are scheduled for December 30-31 at PPL Center in downtown Allentown, and at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., Jan. 27-28, 2017.

Trenton Indoor Race tickets are available online at www.sunnationalbankcenter.com or by phone at 1-800-298-4200.

*** A newly engineered Three Quarter (TQ) Midget built by BJF of West Valley, N.Y., wrenched by veteran TQ team owner Blu Metz and driven by Metz’s ace Geoffrey Sutton, is ready to take on the favored Mark Lafler-built cars that have dominated the Len Sammons Motorsports Productions (LSMP) Indoor Auto Racing Championship Series Fueled By VP Racing Fuels.

The car, built by Jim Fleischman in western New York, is evolutionary, rather than revolutionary. Dimension Design, the Brodheadsville firm owned by Gary Mondschein, has run design models of the car and some of those ideas have been incorporated in the finished product.

The ultra-quick TQ Midgets will headline both Friday’s opening night and Saturday’s “Battle Of Trenton” feature event finale as part of the Indoor Auto Racing Championship Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels.
