Studio B is excited to celebrate its 8th anniversary with an opening of its ninth annual December exhibit entitled “Shine” on Friday, Dec. 2, from 3 p.m.-9 p.m. during Boyertown’s 14th annual holiday open house tour. The show continues through January 15, 2017.

The gallery’s artist members and new friends have been invited to feature their best work. Various media, from oil, pencil, and watercolor to clay, glass, and fiber, will be represented. This annual exhibit showcases dozens of local artists and offers an array of styles.

“It is our mission at Studio B to promote the artists,” said Studio B director Susan Biebuyck. “This is another opportunity for the many talented people who have graced our walls to exhibit and for us to celebrate their artistic accomplishments.”

Studio B is featuring two artists in this exhibit. Fine artist Amy Forsyth was awarded Best in Show during Studio B’s 2015 December Members and Friends exhibit “Watch Us Sparkle.” Forsyth, a furniture designer/maker, was trained as an architect and teaches 3D design and furniture design at Lehigh University. Forsyth is also an accomplished musician and plays and fiddle and sings locally.

Recent projects involve investigating the relationship between furniture and music whether as a series of organizing principles or in the designing and building furniture for making music.

Jodie Scharadin, winner of Pottstown’s Art Fusion’s member show, will also be featured during Studio B’s exhibit “Shine” as part of its collaboration with Studio B’s sister gallery during Studio B’s 2016 annual farm-related exhibit “Cultivate.”

Prizes will be awarded on Friday night, including the coveted “Best In Show.”

“Even in tough economic times, art is an investment gift. It brings joy and hope to both the giver and the receiver,” Biebuyck noted. “This is a special annual exhibit for us. We opened our doors for the first time with this exhibit in 2008. As part of the Holiday House Tour we were introduced to hundreds of visitors to Studio B that evening and look forward to hundreds every year during this annual community celebration!”

The gallery is located at 39 E. Philadelphia Ave. in Boyertown, PA. Please visit studiobbb.org for more information.
