Finding pets a home for the holidays
Humane Pennsylvania promotes free cat adoption weekend
While there are already so many things to be thankful for this holiday season, Humane Pennsylvania partner shelters would like to add one more to the list. All cats six-months-old and older at The Humane Society of Berks County and The Humane League of Lancaster County are FREE to a great home beginning Friday, December 16 and continuing all weekend long through Sunday, Dec. 18.
Humane Pennsylvania shelters hope that, by waiving the adoption fee, potential adopters will receive the extra “nudge” they need to adopt during the adoption weekend rather than wait until after the holidays.
“We have faced a year of critically high intakes as other shelters in the region have closed their doors to cats,” says Karel Minor, President/CEO of Humane Pennsylvania. “There is an overwhelming number of cats in our shelters this season, and the HSBC and HLLC are on a mission to give all of them a home for the holidays.”
Adopters wishing to adopt a cat during this free adoption promotion must go through the normal adoption screening process. Once approved, the adoption of a cat is free and has all of the same benefits and requirements as a “regular” adoption. Adoptions include some vaccinations, de-worming medication, a 30-day health guarantee through Humane Veterinary Hospitals, and microchipping.
