Boyertown boys win team title at Perkiomen Valley Invitational
With the District 1 Swimming Championships looming just a couple weekends away, the Perkiomen Valley Invitational was held on Saturday.
The Phoenixville girls claimed first out of 16 teams with 273.5 team points. In second was West Chester Henderson at 248 while Owen J. Roberts followed with 223.5. Downingtown East finished fourth with 220 team points followed by Methacton with 211.
As for the boys, Boyertown claimed first place with 310 team points while Perkiomen Valley (269), West Chester Henderson (213), West Chester East (213) and SpringFord (186) rounded out the top five.
Boys
Patrick Lance was a four-event winner at the conclusion of the Perk Valley Invitaional.
The Boyertown senior took top individual honors in the 100 fly (52.45) and the 100 free (47.91). He anchored the 200 medley relay — which included Ivan Escott, Nolan Benner and Owen Miller — which finished up at 1:39.17. The Bears also took top honors in the 400 free relay (3:15.82), which included Escott, Oliver Tye, Miller and Lance.
Individually, Escott was first in the 200 IM (1:59.37). Elsewhere from the PAC, Perkiomen Valley’s Ryan Keenan topped the 200 free (1:48.40) and the 500 free (4:57.07) while Upper Merion’s Aidan McNally took top honors in the 50 free (22.30). Spring-Ford’s Carson Huff touched first in the 100 back (54.40).
Girls
Phoenixville came within .08 of a second of their pool record time in the 200 free relay with a 1:38.68. Kathryn Bland swam the first leg, while Katya Hayard, Emily Fabius and Maddie Cooke rounded out the contingent. The group also claimed second in the 200 medley relay with a 1:48.41.
Other top finishers from the Pioneer Athletic Conference included Emily Sykes’ 2:07.43 in the 200 individual medley. Owen J. Roberts’ Laurel Fink posted a 59.71 the 100 fly, just ahead of Fabius at 59.89. Boyertown’s Cara Megill took top honors in the 500 free (5:14.75).
