Silvia’s, Berks East Gymnastics garner state medals
Silvia’s Gymnastics levels 9 and 10 gymnasts competed in the Courtney Kupets Pink Gymnastics Invitational, hosted by Rockdale Gymnastics and held in Savannah, Ga., March 4-5.
Junior A: Kendall Whitman placed first on vault, floor, and AA, third on bars; Olivia VanHorn placed third on floor and fourth on vault. Junior B: Jessica Hutchinson placed second on bars; Olivia Casey placed first on vault; Kasey Ricci placed fourth on vault, fifth on floor and AA. Age Senior A: Hailey Lui placed first on beam and second on bars; Emily Wojcik tied for fourth on floor. Silvia’s Level 10 team placed second.
Junior A: McKenna Little placed first on floor and third on vault, beam and AA; Marissa Leamy placed second on floor and sixth on vault. Junior B: Abby Royer placed third on floor and sixth AA. Senior B: Sophie Rocereta placed first on floor, second on vault, third AA, fifth on bars, and sixth on beam; Lexi Hammer tied for third on floor and placed sixth on vault, bars and AA; Taylor Johnson placed fourth on beam and sixth on floor; Sarah Loughery placed fifth on beam.
*** Silvia’s Gymnastics Level 5 gymnasts competed in the Level 5 state championships at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pa., on March 4-5. Junior A: Isabella Beach placed fourth on floor.
Junior B: Shyla Bhatia is state champion on vault and floor, and placed second AA.
Junior E: Bella Grauer is state champion on beam, placed third AA and fourth on bars.
Senior A: Nadia VanHorn tied for state champion on vault, placed second on bars, third AA, and fifth on beam; Sarah Golie placed third on beam and fourth on floor.
Senior B: Taylor Arias placed second on vault and AA, and fourth on beam; Allison McCafferty tied for state champion on beam.
Senior C: Julia Reid tied for state champion on beam, placed third AA and fifth on floor; Dylan Scherping tied for fourth on beam; Anastasia Sharapova tied for third on bars. Silvia’s Level 5 team placed third.
Berks East
The Berks East Level 5 team competed at the Level 5 Pennsylvania State Championship Meet hosted by Central Bucks School of Gymnastics held at Buck County Community College this past weekend, March 4th and 5th, 2017.
Senior A: Mandie Lewis placed fifth All-Around (AA), second on vault, sixth on bars. Senior C: Lindsey Schrof is the Pennsylvania State floor champion, placed fifth AA, third on vault, sixth on beam. Senior E: Kathryn Berger placed fourth on bars. Senior F: Tiffany Dyer placed third on vault; Emily Megella placed fourth on vault.
