A New Jersey man is behind bars after police allege he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old Boyertownarea girl he met in an online chat room.

Anthony C. Luciani, 46, of Summit, N.J., was arrested last month by the Child Predator Section of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office following allegations that he sent sexually explicit images and messages to a person he believed to be an underage girl, according to a release from Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro.

That person was actually a Child Predator Section agent, working undercover online.

During an interview with police, Luciani said had been attracted to girls ages 12 to 15 for the last 10 to 12 years. When asked how many underage girls he had sex with, Luciani said, “At least six.” He specifically identified one Boyertown-area victim by name and stated that he knew she had been 14 years old at the time.

Police then made contact with the victim, who confirmed that Luciani had sex with her when she was just 14. Police said the incident took place in 2010 at the girl’s home in Berks County while her parents were away.

“Our investigation of this case is active and ongoing,” Shapiro said. “We are doing everything we can to gather additional information and find every one of Mr. Luciani’s victims. We encourage anyone with information to contact us immediately by calling our hotline at 1-800-385-1044. Every child’s safety matters to us.”

Charges of disseminating sexually explicit material to a minor, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility were filed against Luciani following the February investigation. Bail for those charges was set at $500,000.

An additional set of charges related to the 2010 assault in Berks County were also filed Wednesday, March 8, and included indecent sexual assault of a person less than 16 years old, unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault, criminal use of a communication facility and corruption of minors. Bail for those charges was also set at $500,000. Both sets of charges were filed in district court in Montgomery County.
