SPRING ARTS AND CRAFTS FESTIVAL HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
If you are interested in fine arts and crafts, the Annual Juried Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Festival and Sale by the Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen, is the place to be this weekend. Head to Kutztown University on Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the beautiful O’Pake Fieldhouse at the corner of Trexler Avenue and Baldy Street in Kutztown, More than 80 juried craftsmen and fine artists (juried members of ReadingBerks Guild and/or Pennsylvania Guild and invited artists) will be displaying their creations in beautiful store-front booths designed for your shopping pleasure. For sale will be: ceramics from traditional redware to modern decorative pottery; a wide variety of jewelry including glass beads, wire wrapping, gold and silver jewelry; wood turnings; hooked and penny rugs; calligraphy; basketry; art quilting; wearable art; photography; fine art; paper art such as paper cuttings and paper flowers; folk art: theorems, tinsmithing, and block printing; furniture and the list goes on and on. A student gallery, featuring art students from the area colleges, live music by “The Acoustic Road Show”; a food café; hourly door prizes and a “special something” for the first 50 patrons each day round out this very special event. Presented in partnership with The Pennsylvania Cultural Heritage Center and Kutztown University. There is great parking and is hand- icapped accessible. Admission is $6 by donation.
