Bears softball blows out Pottstown, PJP

Softball

BOYERTOWN 18, POTTSTOWN 0 >> The Bears struck for 18 runs in the first two innings as they downed the Trojans in three innings on April 19.

Taylor Garcia led the Bears with a 3-for-3 performanc­e with a double and four RBIs. Juliana Ziegler and Lauren Phillips each scored three runs while Grace Evan (2-for-3) added two runs along with Jillian Meitzler, Lauren Gabel (2-for-4) and Naiya Murrey.

Lauren Ferguson didn’t allow a hit in her three innings of work She struck out four.

BOYERTOWN 14, POPE JOHN PAUL II 2 >> An 11-run fifth inning was the difference as the Bears downed the Golden Panthers in cross-divisonal play on April 20.

Sarah Reinert and Grace Evan each finished with three hits and two runs scored while Taylor Garcia (three RBI), Kody Streeter (two runs), Kylie Hertzler (two RBI), Veronica Maryanski (three RBI) and Lauren Ferguson (two RBI) each finished with two hits.

Allison Melahn got the win in the circle after striking out nine in five innings of work.

Baseball

BOYERTOWN 11, POTTSTOWN 3 >> The Bears put together a five-run fifth inning to overcome the Trojans in PAC play on April 19.

Tyler Kreitz and Mitchell Peers finished with two hits apiece while Jake DiCesare had a double and four RBIs. Anthony Rota knocked an RBI triple. Noah Kurtz earned the win, giving way to four hits and an unearned run across four innings of work. He struck out two. Brandon Gebhard finished 3-for-3 with a run scored while Josh Gery had two hits for Pottstown.

Boys Lacrosse

GREAT VALLEY 10, BOYERTOWN 8 >> The Bears suffered a non-conference loss against the Patriots on April 22.

Brady McFalls led the way with four goals and Jason Clinton added four assists as Boyertown trailed 7-6 at the half. Christian Hellriegel, Carson Flint and Alex Axman each added a goal while Nick Moccia had an assist. BOYERTOWN 8, METHACTON 7 >> The Warriors were unable to erase a 7-2 halftime deficit, coming up short of the Bears in their PAC Liberty Division matchup on April 18. Ryan O’Toole paced Methacton (3-2, 4-6) with three goals and one assist while Stanley Kolimago added a goal and two assists. Brady McFalls had a hat trick and two assists to key Boyertown, with Jason Clinton adding a pair of tallies.

Girls Lacrosse

BOYERTOWN 13, UPPER PERKIOMEN 9 >> Maddy Siejk’s hat trick headed a potent offensive for the Bears as they topped the Indians in a PAC non-divisional contest on April 18.

Amanda Diachynsky and Hailey Heimbach added two goals apiece while Hannah Wentzel, Ashley Dierolf, Kylie Webb, Haydn Hallman and Jen O’Connor added single tallies. Hope Flack and Liz Fox had hat tricks for UP while Mackenzie Gebhardt, Courtney Bauer and Grace Lehman each scored once.
