- By Bill Arsenault For Digital First Media

EMILY GILBERT (BOYERTOWN) >> The Alvernia sophomore was named MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week in women’s golf for the third straight week last Tuesday after she set a school record when she tied for first in the Ursinus Invitational on April 11 in Bulltown with a six-overpar 76. A match of cards dropped her to second. She also finished second in the LVC Spring Invitational on April 17 with an 81. And, on April 17 she shot an 82 for a three-way tie for first at the Arcadia Invitational, but once again lost out of medalist honors through a matching of cards. BROOKE YERGER (OLEY VALLEY) >> The freshman is hitting .358 serving mainly as the designated player for the Salisbury softball team. She has 29 hits in 81 at-bats with five doubles, a triple, 18 RBIs and 27 runs scored. She’s walked 15 times. Yerger is also 6-for-6 in stolen bases and when she plays the field, she’s handled 11 chances without an error. In the last four games, she has 10 hits in 16 at-bats to help the Sea Gulls go to 21-17 overall and 10-4 in the Capital Athletic Conference. TANNER LEE (BOYERTOWN) >> The freshman has scored 14 goals in 14 starts for the Georgian Court men’s lacrosse team. The 5-foot-11 attack also has 11 assists for 25 points and has 18 ground balls. The Lions are 4-10 on the season after a 1914 home victory over Notre Dame de Namur last Thursday in Lakewood, N.J. Lee had three goals in the game which matched the three goals he scored in an 18-11 loss to District of Columbia on March 1. He had his first college score with a goal in an 8-5 victory over Dominican (N.Y.) on Feb. 26. DANIELLE LENTZ (BOYERTOWN) >> The senior was named Most Valuable Player on the Mansfield women’s soccer team at the college’s Athletics’ Mountie Awards affair last Wednesday. She started all 16 games for the team, which finished 2-14 and had two goals giving her eight for her career. Lentz scored her first goal of the season in a 3-1 loss to Indiana on Sept. 10 and had her second in a 2-1 double overtime loss to Millersville on Oct. 25. The team’s season ended with a 3-0 loss to Edinboro on Oct. 29. HUNTER MEASE (KUTZTOWN) >> The sophomore right-hander is the closer for the Delaware Valley baseball team. The 6-foot3, 215-pounder has pitched in 13 games out of the bullpen and he has a 1-1 record with two saves with a 1.08 earned run average. Mease has worked 25 innings and given up 18 hits and six runs, three earned, with 11 walks and eight strikeouts. He picked up his victory in a 10-6 win over Mount St. Vincent on April 3 and got the save in a 6-3 triumph over Wilkes on April 14 with three hitless innings. AUSTIN KUNKEL (BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS) >> The freshman right-hander picked up his first collegiate victory for the Penn State-Harrisburg baseball team in an 8-4 victory over Albright in a non-league game on April 19 in Reading. He worked 1.1 innings and gave up two hits and an unearned run with a walk and two strikeouts to help the Lions move to 15-23 overall and 7-11 in

the Capital Athletic Conference. Kunkel has pitched in six games with three starts and that was his first decision. He’s worked 15 innings and given up 14 hits and 12 runs, seven earned, with seven walks and 11 strikeouts. ADAM MYERS (DANIEL

BOONE) >> The Ursinus junior has his name on all four throw events on the Centennial Conference performance list. Myers is sixth in the shot put after finishing second in the Gwynedd Mercy Mid-Week Twilight Invitational on April 12 in Gwynedd Valley with a toss of 44 feet, 6 ¼ inches. He’s 11th in the discus (129 feet, 10 inches), 15th in the javelin throw (143 feet, 10 inches) and 22nd in the hammer throw (89 feet, 6

inches). Myers finished second in the shot put at the league’s indoor championship. TESSA MUNDELL (GOV. MIFFLIN) >> Tessa Mundell is hoping to wrap up her career with the James Madison University women’s track team in fine style. And it appears that she’s heading in the right direction.

The senior from Mohnton (Governor Mifflin) captured the 1,500-meter run at the William Walton Invitational on April 15 in Harrisonburg, Va. with a time of 4:33.70. That was a personal record and places her sixth in the Colonial Athletic Association performance list.

But that’s not Mundell’s main event. That would be the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She currently stands second in the CAA and 35th in the region with a 10:38.35 time which is a PR by almost three minutes and puts her fourth on the Dukes’ all-time list. That came in the Colonial Relays on March 30.

Mundell has already qualified for the ECAC Division I Championship (May 12-14 in Princeton, N.J.).

“Tessa is fit and focused and that hopefully will translate into another jump time-wise to give her a shot at qualifying for the NCAAs and a top three finish in the conference meet.”

The CAA meet is May 5-6 in Newark, Del. and the NCAA Preliminary Round will be held May 25-27 in Lexington, Ky.
