Student chemists make the final cut
Five Spring-Ford 8th Grade Center students qualified for the Montgomery County “You be the Chemist Challenge,” sponsored by DOW Chemical Company. Qualifying students were Kasey Linton, Owen Wright, Ankush Somenhali, Riley Wallace and Abigail Calvert. There were 70 finalists that qualified from a pool of 1,500 students from Montgomery County schools.
All Spring-Ford students advanced through at least three rounds of intense competition to the quarterfinal round. Ankush Somenhalli and Riley Wallace advanced to the semifinal round and placed among the top 15, while Abigail Calvert was a finalist and placed 5th as an alternate for the Pennsylvania State Final Competition. — Submitted by SpringFord Area School District
